Training and Technical Assistance (TTAC) Coordinator
The George Mason University Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC) invites applications for a full time Coordinator, Multi-tiered Systems of Support. About the Department:
As part of Mason’s Kellar Institute for Human disAbilities, and in support of a grant from the Virginia Department of Education, TTAC provides technical assistance and professional development to school and related services personnel who work with students with disabilities in Virginia Superintendent’s Region 4. Specifically, the TTAC staff work to improve instructional practices of those who work with students with disabilities in an effort to increase the academic success of these students. Particular attention is given to those schools struggling to meet the state standards for making adequate yearly progress on indicators established by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and approved by the U.S. Department of Education.
Responsibilities:
The purpose of this position is to provide support in the form of training and technical assistance to school personnel who work with students with disabilities in Virginia Superintendent’s Region 4 within the context of an MTSS service delivery system. The Coordinator is responsible for coordination and delivery of specific training and professional learning activities as directed by VDOE or upon request of schools and school divisions. This specialized technical assistance provides support to school personnel in enhancing evidence-based and high leverage practices that facilitate improved outcomes for students with disabilities. The Coordinator, MTSS, also supports VDOE and TTAC initiatives as directed, focused on the Virginia Tiered Systems of Support and High Leverage Practices initiatives.
This is a full time, 12-month administrative/professional faculty position. Flexible/remote work location is allowable.

Required Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include a Master’s degree or higher in Special Education or equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge of effective evidence-based and high leverage practices as well as current issues in special education; experience providing a range of professional learning activities, including virtual and hybrid; and experience collaborating with others to provide professional learning activities to teachers and administrators.
Specifically, the qualified individual must have evidence of:
  • Knowledge of diverse classroom and virtual learning environments and ability to plan, assess, adapt and evaluate instruction to meet a variety of student and instructional needs;
  • Experience using data for decision-making, informing instructional practices and determining outcomes and future planning for continuous learning.
  • Experience with developing, implementing and evaluating strategic action plans to accomplish short and long-term projects; and
  • Knowledge of high leverage practices (HLP) and experience embedding HLP into content areas to enhance effective instructional and inclusive practices;
  • Knowledge of and experience with embedded and virtual coaching models and resources to provide ongoing support to teachers, build capacity and achieve sustainability;
  • Proven experience in collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills and leading teams and professional learning groups;
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of effective practices for coaching teams in the implementation of specially designed instruction (SDI) in reading, math and social-emotional learning in inclusive classrooms;
  • Proven ability to plan, assess, deliver and facilitate effective professional learning in a variety of formats, such as on-site, virtual and hybrid models, to include coaching and capacity building components for sustainability;
  • Current knowledge of and experience with application of specially designed instruction, evidence- based practices and multi-tiered systems of support in academic, behavior and social-emotional domains;


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing multi-tiered systems of support and high leverage practices frameworks.
