Job Description
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; two years of experience in planning related work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; of the basic principles and practices of planning. Ability to accurately interpret applicable codes, ordinances and regulations; to read and interpret land use plans, maps, construction drawings, charts, surveys to perform research and compile statistical data; Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience in the use of personal computers, including geographic information systems (GIS), word-processing, and spreadsheets; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers; Ability to stand or sit to serve customers at the planning front counter for extended periods of time. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.


Duties

Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in administrative and technical work involving planning, zoning, and land use issues.

Provides front counter assistance to the general public, vendors, contractors, or other professionals or office visitors and provides information within area of assignment; responds to requests for information and distributes appropriate forms, documents, etc.; accepts applications and documents.

Provides information and direction to the public; answers routine questions concerning zoning and land use issues, application procedures, projects, and other information.

Calculates, receives and processes fees for applications, documents, and other payments as required.

Participates as a technical support member of a Planning team, in the timely and efficient preparation of planning reports, plans, administrative materials, and other documents.

Assists Planners in researching and collecting data and processing and maintaining project records and reports, and in completing minor projects as assigned.

Performs routine office tasks in designated program areas, including data entry, file management, copying and answering telephones, delivering electronic communications.

Perform other work as required.

This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.

Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
