SUMMARY:

The Network Administrator will perform daily configuration and maintenance tasks to ensure the efficiency, reliability and security of voice, data, and wireless networks for the Carter Center world-wide. The Network Administrator will also assist the Lead Network Engineer in planning and installation tasks as needed. This position will report to the Lead Network Engineer. May require international travel. Due to the travel locations, Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) may be required.

FORMAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Ensures that least privilege is applied and regularly review user assignments according to stated policies.
  • Applies knowledge of network systems, applications, and network infrastructure to assist Lead Network Engineer in configuring, provisioning, and installing a world-wide hybrid network, which consists of on-premises and cloud-based appliances.
  • Provides input to and complies with all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Helps in receiving and shipping network and server equipment for local and remote offices, following organizational policies for maintaining inventory records.
  • This includes installing and configuring backup settings and security protocols on these devices.
  • The Network Administrator will perform daily configuration and maintenance tasks to ensure the efficiency, reliability, and security of voice, data, and wireless networks for The Carter Center worldwide.
  • Assists in training and guidance of network maintenance and improvement to country office IT managers.
  • Works within departmental policies and project plans to ensure upgrade and maintenance activities have minimal impact on users.
  • Ensures that assigned systems and network devices are updated with the latest firmware and security patches.
  • Serves as secondary contact for network issues with remote country offices.
  • Continuously monitors TCC systems for connectivity and assists the security team in handling outages and other incidents.
  • This position will report to the Lead Network Engineer. May require international travel.
  • Maintains professional growth and self-development by identifying educational/training programs, professional organizations, activities, and resources to maintain knowledge of technology trends and to promote leading edge expertise.
  • Performs related responsibilities as needed and directed by the Lead Network Engineer.
  • May recommend and develop efficient procedures for the implementation of department activities and automating common network tasks.
  • Due to the travel locations, Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) may be required.
  • Performs the standard configuration, installation, and testing of network and server equipment, following the Lead Network Engineer's configuration specifications.
  • Works with the Lead Network Engineer in the documentation and diagrams of the network solution, using standard diagrams and specification sheets, to ensure records of work are maintained.
  • The Network Administrator will also assist the Lead Network Engineer in planning and installation tasks as needed.
  • Assists the Lead Network Engineer in procuring equipment, following organizational policies for getting quotes and approvals.
  • Responds to standard service requests and provides on-call support to resolve issues and assist in restoring service.
  • Tracks and maintains Carter Center user accounts, including their permissions and group/role assignments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related technical field and three years of related IT network administration and maintenance experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA), Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate or similar network certification is desirable.
  • Experience with Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Aruba, SonicWall and Microsoft Azure preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 office products and Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) is highly preferred.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to The Carter Center on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines. The Carter Center reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
