Job Description

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Technical Account Manager within our Technical Sales team to help support our Automotive business. Did you know we are the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of seating support and comfort systems for transportation manufacturers, as well as tier one and two suppliers within the automotive industry? Our automotive products fall into four primary groups: Seating and Lumbar support, Wireless Charging, Motors and Actuators, and Mechanical Cables. If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.


As a Technical Account Manager, you will have the opportunity to identify opportunities for business growth of our North American automotive customer base. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by identifying unique value propositions and position the company as the lead technology provide for mechatronic products. The team you will be working with is an international and hardworking team.

So, what will you be doing as a Technical Account Manager?

  • Support development of customer and go-to-market strategies.
  • Partner with customers on technical, product and business solutions including organization of tech days, innovation roundtables & technology reviews
  • Support development of business cases for technology partnerships and collaborations
  • Manage new customer development
  • Proactively identify, monitor, and communicate key technology trends across the market and industry
  • Drive and manage communications and relationships with customers’ technical community with special focus on pre-RFQ activities
  • Plan, develop and execute the OEM and Tier-1 long term customer acquisition strategy to profitably grow the business
  • Support the development of 5-7 year product roadmaps matching internal innovation pipeline with customer technology prospects
  • Partner with marketing to lead business development activities with new and existing customers
  • Facilitate the decision making on the development of innovative product and technology solutions for future growth, support the development of innovation management
  • Grow, develop, and maintain successful customer relationships with OEM and Tier-1 customers within North America
  • Spearhead the process of identifying technological growth areas and white spots


To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Strong background in mechatronic technology
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Strong commercial acumen, ability to recognize ongoing disruptive technologies
  • Ability to listen and understand the technical needs of the customer and translate into solutions
  • Strong customer relations skills
  • Strong influencing, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Min. 10 years experience in Automotive Industry and technical customer-facing role
  • International mindset
