Job Description
Primary Tasks


  • Customer support activities are documented in Yokogawa’s CRM System. Must be able to document, organize, and log email, phone, and task activities for historical documentation. Ability to follow established case handling processes to ensure customer requests are properly managed and executed in a timely fashion.
  • Ability and interest to research and learn in order to develop resolutions to customer problems and inquiries. Must be able to research Yokogawa Product Manuals, as well as utilize Yokogawa global intranet resources.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Ability to travel to customer site to resolve support requests that cannot be handled through phone, email, and web support methodologies. Also required for project startups and commissioning. Travels up to 30% of the time.
  • Supporting received customer support requests related to Yokogawa industrial automation products. Requests can vary from direct product failures to general inquiries about usage, installation, and configuration. Most requests are within normal business hours but must be able to support after-hour calls as required to resolve immediate customer emergencies.
  • Execute small projects from design to delivery involving product upgrades, system expansions, and/or engineering changes to existing systems.
  • Support Sales though On-Demand Services Quotations as well as providing technical details regarding Yokogawa products. Ability to organize and request Parts Quotations from internal and external business channels as needed.


Secondary Tasks


  • Remains aware of assigned project scope and delivers within the specified timeline.
  • Ability to follow Yokogawa procedures and project work methodologies and processes as they apply to assigned tasks.
  • Exhibits the importance of frugal and efficient time management, and reports time promptly and accurately as required by company policies across multiple support cases and project assignments.
  • Competent with the basic engineering functions of one or more Yokogawa control systems. Continues to expand this knowledge across multiple product lines.
  • Mentoring, self-study as assigned and direct support experience.
  • Learns about the architecture and use of one or more Yokogawa control systems through training classes,
  • Has a fundamental and increasing understanding of industrial automation concepts and technology.
  • Understands and follows safe work practices.

  • Proficient in the use of relevant and technologically advanced business systems and technical tools related to field and discipline. Ability to research internal and external documentation sources.

  • Ability to recommend solutions to resolve customer support requests related to Yokogawa Products. Make sound decisions and understands the possible impacts of those decisions on a customers’ process.

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment requiring good time management, solid communication skills, and quick response.


SPECIFICATIONS


Education & Experience: BS degree in Engineering or other relevant discipline and 2 or more years of relevant experience or MS degree in Engineering or other relevant discipline and 1 or more years of relevant experience.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Physical Demand: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
