The function of the Systems Analyst is to implement, support and maintain all network related aspects of USC Law School Data Center operations in Los Angles, California. The Systems Analyst will report directly to the Associate Dean and CIO and is ultimately responsible for the hands-on day-to-day engineering activities to ensuring the successful operation of mission critical network services.
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of network administration, best current practices, IP transit, routing protocols and all aspects of networking needed to support a 100% uptime. The ideal candidate will be available to work a 8:30AM – 5:00PM or a 10:30 PM – 7:00 PM shift and be available for 24x7 on-call support of all critical network functions. This candidate will demonstrate strong abilities to collaborate with vendors, contractors, consultants, and other technology groups within the university.

Job Accountabilities:
- Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations. Repairs and/or recovers systems.
- Maintains and administers computer networks and related computing
- Software, and corresponding configurations.
- Assigns, modifies, and deletes user accounts and resolves security access problems; maintains integrity of the security system.
- Troubleshoots and identifies hardware and software problems in a timely manner; resolves routine problems, replaces defective components, and researches resources to identify solutions. Escalates complex problems to appropriate staff for resolution.
- Develops documentation for systems administration procedures.
- Environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications
- Support after hours classroom technology requests
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
- Provide Tier 2 technical support to the Law School Help Desk team. This entails resolving calls that cannot be fixed by junior level personnel.
- Monitors systems, servers and auxiliary devices for performance and security. Determines whether adjustments need to be made and confers with senior Systems Analyst and vendors as appropriate. Identifies changes that need to be made in the future.
The ideal candidate has experience with:
- Monitoring Systems (Experience with ManageEngine OpManager a plus)
- Microsoft Windows Server (Ability to maintain day-to-day operation of production servers, ability to provision and decommissions servers, patch management, server hardening)
- Microsoft Active Directory (Create new users, add users to groups, knowledge of distribution and security groups, create groups, choose domain controllers, support Active Directory Group Policy features)
- Disaster Recovery procedures (Symantec Backup Exec knowledge a plus)
- Microsoft 365 Administration (Knowledge setting up an account to forward and delegating permissions on a mailbox, making distribution groups and mail contacts, determine transport and storage limits, add device to receive connector, create a shared calendar, decipher email headers)
- AWS considered a plus, but not required.
- OSI Model and IPv4, IPv6
- Microsoft Office 365 support knowledge (Ability to assist customer configure and forward new email accounts)
- Root cause analysis
- VMware considered a plus, but not required
- Network Security Practices (Experience with SonicWall and Fortinet firewalls a plus)

The hourly rate range for this position is $38.84 - $50.26.
