Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and monitors Supply Chain operations to ensure timely, accurate and efficient procedures for supply distribution to support patient care. Works with departments and Supply Chain Services areas to find ways in which Supply Chain Services can better support organizational logistics, goals and objectives.
  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, and optimize customer service. Also update Supply Chain practices to meet new or changing policies,standards, regulations, and or laws.
  • Is the liaison and resource person between Central Processing/Sterilization Department and other hospital departments, staff members, patients, patient family, visitors and vendors.
  • Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, materials requirements planning, controlling inventory, warehousing, distribution, and receiving functions for the Medical Center.
  • Demonstrates commitment to quality service and responsibility for addressing customer-service issues. Respects the dignity and confidentiality of patients and Medical Center information.
  • Completes performance evaluations and take appropriate personnel actions. Interpret and implement Medical Center personnel and department policies and procedures. Monitors employee productivity through the Central Processing Computer System and completion of daily work assignments. Reviews productivity reports to use as a learning tool for employees.
  • Manages the ordering and distribution of inventories. Make potential changes needed for reorder points and quantities. Reviews obsolete, slow moving items and make recommendations to the end user to remove from inventory using established protocols.
  • Ensures the decontamination process of equipment according to hospital policy procedures and manufacturer's recommendations. Assures that proper cleaning supplies are being used correctly for different tasks and insures the availability of all supplies needed to comply with Universal Precautions. Adheres to Universal Precautions and supervises staff compliance when handling items.
  • Monitors supply intensive departments to recommend PAR levels for inventory management in the department's locations. Conducts rounds for high volume supply areas and routine rounds for lower volume supply areas.
  • Manages Supply Chain opportunities by implementing new or improved Supply Chain process to improve efficiency and performance. Also review opportunities to consolidate activities and inventories to meet the financial goals of the Medical Center, while ensuring there is a consistent process between all MSMC facilities.
  • Ensure frequent inspections are conducted in storage areas (both Supply Chain storerooms and clinical storage locations) to ensure they are maintained in a clean and safe environment. Also inspects all assigned work areas and equipment to ensure they are kept in a clean and organized condition to maintain required standards for the handling of sterilized and clean materials and equipment.
  • Monitor suppliers ' activities to asssess performance in meeting quailty of delivery requirements.
  • Manages department personnel to ensure effective operations. Provide work direction, assignment and schedule work, answers job related questions and conducts on the job-training.
  • Ensures accurate records of all medical/surgical equipment rental orders and work with the Director of Supply Chain to resolve any problem areas.
  • Utilizes Supply Chain systems to monitors inventory values daily. Coordinates cycle inventory counts on established schedules, including the annual year end physical inventory. Reports all inventory discrepancies to the Corporate Director of Supply Chain Services and make necessary count adjustment based on established protocols.
  • Reviews policy and procedures to ensure the flow of materials to departments. Make appropriate recommendations to facilitate and improve department operations. Complies with established departmental policies and procedures of the Central Processing/Sterilization Department as well as the rules and regulations regarding the application of Universal Precautions and OSHA Standards. Adheres to all Federal, State and local regulations.
  • Evaluate and select information or other technology solutions to improve tracking and reporting of materials or product distribution, storage, and inventory.
  • Demonstrates effective communication with directors, managers and clinical staff responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies. Works with Management to implement procedures to resolve supply management issues.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree ( 3 years experience will qualify for position)
  • 3 years experience in hospital Supply Chain and Central Service or related healthcare field. Proficient in utilizing an automated inventory system to maintain supply and equipment inventory for Supply Chain and Central Process departments. Must have experience in instrument sterilization and some medical terminology. Must have Central Processing certification or 3 years experience.
