Job Description

Supply Chain & Procurement Manager


This is an ONSITE role in Baltimore, MD, that reports to the VP Strategic Initiatives & Transformation.

Our Client is a highly regarded manufacturer of advanced power conversion electronics; power management & distribution systems.

The Supply Chain & Procurement will drive procurement in order to support manufacturing of highly engineered power electronics products. The selected candidate will be highly engaged, working closely with the engineering team and production department.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the organization complies with all laws and regulations related to procurement.
  • Work with the executive team to establish and implement continuous improvement, lean manufacturing cycle-time reduction concepts, and plans.
  • Collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to identify, maintain or expand resources needed to provide an effective supply chain.
  • Identifying optimal shipment and transportation modes with attention to consolidation of warehousing and distribution.
  • Developing and implementing processes and procedures to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring safety, quality, cost, delivery and inventory.
  • Establishing performance metrics for measurement, comparison and evaluation of safety, quality, delivery cost and inventory factors affecting the supply chain.
  • Analyze the needs of the organization and develop plans to ensure that those needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers.
  • Direct and oversee the Company’s direct procurement of goods.
  • Develop and implement strategies for procuring goods in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Work directly with engineers to read drawings and interpet specs, create BOMs
  • Research and select vendors and suppliers who can provide the best quality goods and services at the most competitive prices.
  • Supervise and work closely with the Purchasing Manager, Technicians, and Material Handler to drive production.
  • Work with quality to ensure goods are compliant.
  • Acting as part of the team coordinating engineering changes, product line extension, or new product launches to ensure timely and orderly material availability.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Monitor trends in the marketplace to identify opportunities and threats to the organization’s supply chain.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

  • Excellent skills in math, numbers, Excel;
  • United States Citizenship required due to US Government ITAR program restrictions
  • Ability to lead
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance
  • Outstanding project management skills
  • Costpoint ERP (or comparable ERP)
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes of highly engineered componentry
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategies
  • Experience in management of categories and commodities
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • Make vs. Buy analysis skills
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in procurement of a highly engineered product in an assembly setting with leadership/supervisory experience
