Traveling Superintendent, Federal Division


Blinderman Construction is looking for a skilled and experienced Traveling Superintendent to join our Federal Field team. The Traveling Superintendent will support the management and provide technical direction on our construction project sites throughout the US.

Your Role And Responsibilities


Reporting to the Superintendent, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:


  • Schedule and communicate with subcontractors to drive work, meet timelines, and control costs
  • Plan look-ahead schedules and effectively communicate the plan to the project team and subcontractors
  • Ensure appropriate resources are committed to achieve project goals
  • Conduct safety meetings, weekly subcontractor meetings, and prepare reports on activity at owner meetings; ensure follow up and accountability between meetings
  • Implements company Field Ticket procedure to ensure responsibility for costs is properly assigned
  • Continually strive to take industry standards, developments, and improvements into account and contribute to position the company as impactful industry leaders.
  • Manage assigned self-performed work safely and timely to budget. Maintains labor harmony
  • Establish the sequence of work activities for the baseline project schedule, monitor the schedule weekly to plan, and ensure timely performance of the work
  • Ensure Daily Reports are completed timely and accurately to protect company interests Uses RFIs to expedite timely resolution of issues and position Blinderman to collect costs incurred. Ensures as-built documentation is accurate and current
  • Responsible for site safety and guarantee all Blinderman Safety policies and procedures are followed, including weekly safety audits and activity hazard analyses (AHAs)
  • Draft Request for Information (RFIs) and prepare as-built documentation
  • Provide clear communication to the client and project team for all work on site, identifying and communicating potential risks
  • With the Project Manager, manages general conditions costs to budget and monthly billing
  • Partner with the Quality Control Manager to ensure work complies with the contract requirements, minimizing quality issues and rework


What You Offer


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar field advantageous
  • OSHA 30-hour Certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of site supervision experience in similar Construction environment is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs, specifically Excel and SharePoint are required; developing knowledge of industry programs including Procore, Bluebeam, P6 and Viewpoint


Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):


  • May lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent walking, standing, use hands to handle equipment, talk, hear
  • Worked is performed at the construction site almost exclusively
  • Occasional sitting, reaching, climbing, kneeling
