This position contributes to Starbucks success by ensuring the stability of enterprise-wide information technology systems and networks by assisting with problem identification and analysis, solution design, solution implementation, problem resolution, and system lifecycle management. We are looking for a lead storage engineer that is a hands-on subject matter expert who excels in delivering scalable, secure, and reliable storage infrastructure services for Starbucks private cloud. As a member of the hosting services team, you will specify, configure, and provision storage for medium to large scale projects. Deliverables will include storage design and implementation plans, storage/network diagrams and documentation, design reviews, proof of concepts, storage requirements gathering, disaster recovery and business continuity planning, testing, and day-to-day sustainment, including LUN provisioning/masking, zoning and SAN switch port/port channel provisioning. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

• Communicates effectively with positive impact to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Vulnerability Management (Patching systems and implementing security controls in compliance with Starbucks Global Security)
• Create and maintain systems and infrastructure documentation
• Plan and execute prioritized project tasks
• Assists in planning long-term strategy for the storage services and translate that into an achievable roadmap/action plan
• Automate repetitive tasks
• Raises the bar of engineering and operational excellence at the organization level
• Works closely with infrastructure engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach to deliver storage services
• Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure tight alignment with Starbucks strategies and programs
• Provides coaching, direction, and leadership support to team members to improve technical competency across the team

Summary of Experience

Basic Qualifications

• Exposure to diverse technical configurations, technologies, and processing environments
• Minimum of 8 years of experience directly involved in the architecture, design, implementation, operation, administration, and maintenance of storage area network equipment and technology in a 24x7, high availability (99.99% uptime) environment
• 2 to 3 years’ experience with script-writing capabilities using Python3, UNIX shell, or other similar scripting languages.
• Ability to translate business needs into application and system storage requirements and design
• 5 years’ experience with CISCO MDS 9xxx series zoning, port-channels and port provisioning
• 5 years’ experience with hands-on experience doing storage implementation, configuration, block/file storage provisioning and support
• 5 years’ experience with storage provisioning, performance monitoring and tuning for DellEMC Storage Arrays (PMAX, VMAX, XtremIO, PStore, Unity) and NetApp Storage Arrays

Preferred Qualifications

• Storage Array install, configuration (FC, iSCSI, File), code upgrades, decom
• DellEMC CloudIQ and Secure Connect Gateway (SCG) call home, NetApp Active IQ configuration, device connections, troubleshooting, software version life-cycling
• Experience as a UNIX or Windows Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer working with SAN
• Windows DellEMC Powerpath install, software version life-cycle
• Knowledge of Emulex HBA drivers and firmware
• Knowledge of VMAX Solutions Enabler, OS-400 STM, XMCLI, PSTCLI, UEMCLI, ONTAP CLI, PPME
• MDS SAN Switch install, configuration, code upgrades, decom
• L2/L3 troubleshooting/support calls
• Understanding of L2/L3 network switches, DNS/DHCP is desired
• 5+ years’ experience with Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NFS/CIFS connectivity and host-side I/O performance monitoring is strongly desirable
• Understanding of open-systems design and analysis is desired
• Hands on experience of Ansible, Terraform is desired
• Solid knowledge of VMware is preferred
• 3+ years’ experience with host-side disk management such as Linux disk management, and Windows Disk Management is strongly desirable
• Knowledge of snapshot/clone capabilities
