Job Description

TheSTEM TeacherK-8th will deliver STEM instruction through project-based learning methods and collaborate with a dynamic team of educators to provide STEM related experiences for K-8th grade students. The STEM teacher’s primary role will be to facilitate developmentally appropriate STEM learning activities, experiences and assessments to foster intellectual, physical and social growth.


Specific Responsibilities

  1. Engage and support all students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies and resources to respond to students’ diverse needs.
  2. Engage students in activities of Scientific Argumentation, Scientific Inquiry, Scientific Innovation, Scientific Collaboration, Scientific Thinking, and Scientific Literacy.
  3. Facilitate hands-on experiments and projects that allow students to learn by doing and exploring.
  4. Implement a rich array of instructional methods, the analysis and use of data and technology to improve instruction, and the ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively.
  5. Apply science and/or math content knowledge, formative assessment, and technology integration at a high level.
  6. Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
  7. Organize, develop, and coordinate special STEM events and/or activities at the school site.
  8. Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
  9. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, peers, and community.
  10. Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
  11. Collaborate with peers to plan, review, and revise district units of study.
  12. Assume responsibility for meeting his/her course and school-wide student academic performance goals.
Requirements


  • Masters in Mathematics and/or Science and/or STEM preferred or related field of study.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • Strong Google Apps for Education skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
  • At least three (3) years of classroom experience
  • Experience or familiarity with tools such as, but not limited to: 3D Printing, AutoCad, TynkerCad, SketchUp, Laser Cutting, Vinyl Cutting, Makey-Makey, Codecademy, Tynker, Scratch, Hopscotch, Vex, Ozobot, Sphero, Lego Robotics, etc.
