The Sr Technical Operations (Tech Ops) Project Manager invests in the future of Southwest’s People through their work supporting Initiatives, Projects, Programs, and Portfolio within the Tech Ops space. This role is on the Tech Ops Portfolio and Initiatives Team, and the work this Team supports will either tangibly affect the physical aircraft (i.e. 737 MAX8 Acquisition) or involve business processes and support Teams (i.e. process improvement for particular Tech Ops Teams). This Project Manager will primarily focus on items that affect the physical aircraft, and they'll support larger, cross-departmental projects, where they’ll work collaboratively with various Leaders, Teams, Project Managers, Program Managers, and more. The Sr Tech Ops Project Manager is excited to join the innovative and impactful Portfolio and Initiatives Team, where they’ll be able to champion improvement and the future of Southwest Airlines. This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

Job Summary
Leads projects that primarily supports Technical Operations to solve immediate and long-term challenges. Responsible for all aspects of project management for moderate complexity and visibility projects over the entire life of the initiative. Understands business objectives and scope and assists with assembling a Team to deliver results for their projects. Works closely with accountable delivery Leaders to ensure assigned projects deliver on business objectives and value, while managing scope, timeline, budget and risk. May also be assigned to support on-going reporting and analysis work to support the Portfolio and Initiatives Team.
Responsibilities
Define project plans for multiple simultaneous complex projects or for a single highly complex project/program including scope, budget and schedule and executes tasks defined in the project plan to achieve project goals
Validate and define project scope and drive alignment with Customers, utilizing this to develop objectives and goals
Establish cross-functional alliances within and outside of the Technical Operations Department to drive results
Use standard program and project management methodologies and practice, adjusting to the needs of the projects
Partner with resource managers, Business Partners, and vendors to assemble a project Team and provide ongoing motivation to drive projects to completion
Lead and facilitate project meetings and presentations to Leadership, including Sr. Leadership and Executives
Proactively monitor and communicate risks, issues, and scope, ensuring the appropriate level of priority, visibility, and escalation
Encourage consensus among multiple parties with conflicting and diverse viewpoints
Build trust and influences without authority cross-functionally and across diverse teams
Mentor other project managers and stakeholders
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of project processes, problem management tools and procedures
Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
Skilled in leading large cross-functional teams to deliver on timelines and scope
Skilled in MS Project, think-cell, Visio, MS Office Suite including SharePoint
Ability to gather requirements across cross functional work groups, create meeting minutes, action item lists, and drive assigned actions to close
Ability to effectively listen to, understand, and communicate ideas presented in writing and/or in speaking with all levels of the organization , including Sr. Leadership and Executives
Ability to quickly understand assignments and complete them autonomously
Ability to lead, manage, and direct resources with no formal or written authority
Ability to drive teams to execute to project plan
Should possess proven experience in successfully managing schedules and solid understanding of project financial tracking Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Expert level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
Coordinating, managing and aligning cross-department stakeholders
Developing and working with project schedules or integrated project schedules
Identifying and managing issues and risks
Licensing/Certification
Must be able to obtain a SIDA (Secured Identification Display Area) badge and meet all local airport requirements
Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Ability to travel 10-30% of time depending on need for local field support
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $118,600 per year to $131,800 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
