Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Manager to join our team. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the company's tax planning, compliance, and reporting activities. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and tax authorities to ensure accurate and timely submission of tax returns and adherence to tax regulations. The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of tax laws, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate complex tax matters to both financial and non-financial professionals.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position while ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare and review tax calculations, estimates, and projections to support tax planning and compliance.
- Manage and oversee the preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations, assess their impact on the company, and proactively recommend and implement necessary adjustments.
- Conduct research and analysis of complex tax issues, provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders, and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely recording of tax-related transactions, including deferred tax assets/liabilities and tax provisions.
- Coordinate and manage tax audits and inquiries, including gathering and organizing relevant documentation, responding to tax authority inquiries, and resolving tax-related issues.
- Maintain effective relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities, ensuring open lines of communication and efficient resolution of tax matters.
- Develop and implement tax policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance and mitigate tax risks.
- Provide training and support to finance and accounting teams on tax matters, promoting awareness and understanding of tax implications throughout the organization.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and evaluate their impact on the company's tax position, advising management on potential risks and opportunities.

In 3 months…
- Familiarize themselves with the company's tax processes, systems, and policies. They establish relationships with team members, key stakeholders, and external advisors.
- Gain a thorough understanding of the company's tax position, historical tax filings, and ongoing tax projects.
In 6 months…
- Build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to optimize tax processes, reduce costs, and increase efficiency
In 12 months…
- Oversee the timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring full compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Establish streamlined processes, implement efficient tax software, and collaborate with finance and accounting teams to gather necessary data. As a result, the company's tax filings are error-free, complete, and submitted timely.
What You Need:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional tax qualification (e.g., CPA) is preferred.
- Extensive experience in tax planning, compliance, and reporting, preferably within a corporate environment or public accounting firm.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, including tax implications for businesses.
- Proficient in tax research and analysis, with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations and communicate findings effectively.
- Experience in managing tax audits and inquiries, including interaction with tax authorities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate tax concepts to non-financial professionals.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
- Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office suite.
- A work environment that is conducive to high quality virtual interactions. This includes but is not limited to being able to work from a quiet space with minimal interruptions or distractions, and a strong internet connection.
- The ability to travel periodically for work.
- A high level of judgment, analytical ability and creativity in investigating problems that require original and innovative solutions.
- Experience working a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environments.
