The Sr. Product Manager, Transactional Messaging, will be part of the Digital Platforms team and report to the Director of Transactional Messaging. This individual will help lead efforts to develop and deploy transactional communications to Marriott customers worldwide.

The Sr. Product Manager will lead a cross-functional agile team and partner with product and engineering teams and external vendors to implement a transactional messaging product roadmap and deliver on defined business outcomes. The Sr. Product Manager should be comfortable making business decisions and can operate in a complex, fast-paced environment.

This individual should have a proven track record of collaborative work and product development excellence in a highly matrixed environment. Ideal candidates will have experience developing and deploying transactional communications across various channels (email, SMS, etc.) on a large scale.



CANDIDATE PROFILE


Required Education and Experience



  • Experience writing product user stories and requirements
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret and translate data into key learnings and execution plans that drive business results
  • 7+ years digital product experience with demonstrated success managing large-scale communication platforms
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Technology, or equivalent experience/certification
  • Experience implementing customer communications across various channels (for example, email, SMS, push, etc.)
  • Experience leading, influencing, and collaborating effectively in a matrix-managed environment
  • 3+ years of product management experience leading a cross-functional agile team
  • Ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with engineering partners and external vendors to deliver business results

  • Possesses a team-first mentality, is open-minded and proactive
  • Experience working with email service providers and/or campaign orchestration platforms
  • Experience with large-scale, global implementations
  • Proven ability to lead and work with cross-functional teams in support of specific business priorities
  • Familiar with email best practices
  • Effective written and oral communications skills
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems
  • Ability to understand and navigate technical discussions, architectures, and solutions
  • Familiar with product management tools such as Atlassian (JIRA/Confluence)
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and persuasion skills
  • Experience with scaled agile development environment, SAFe or equivalent variant


CORE WORK ACTIVITIES


  • Meet on a regular cadence with team(s) to get status updates, discuss blockers, and provide guidance and encouragement to ensure product deliverables are met
  • Identify and implement process improvements for managing stakeholder requests
  • Oversee day to day email and SMS management and operations to support the deployment of transactional communications to Marriott customers.
  • Partner closely with engineering and solution architecture teams to identify and align on technical solutions
  • Develop and maintain appropriate tracking and reporting of messaging performance
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement
  • Define product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Own the product backlog and prioritize based on changing requirements
  • Proactively communicate with stakeholders and product teams to manage expectations and timelines
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and apply new knowledge to job
  • Monitor deliverability and engagement metrics and utilize data to identify product enhancement opportunities
  • Manage stakeholder requests and gather product requirements. Partner with engineering team to evaluate and prioritize requests based on alignment with product roadmap and team capacity.
  • Lead cross-functional agile team and participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily standup, etc.) to successfully deliver product features
  • Partner with email service provider to implement email enhancements and ensure email best practices are met
  • Collaborate with other product teams across the organization to activate enhancements and lead execution of the product roadmap
