Job Description

Note: To start, this is an equity-only position, offering significant ownership in the company. The role will convert to a full-time salaried position once the company achieves sales targets or funding.


Company Overview:


Flowork is an early-stage startup. The product is a SaaS solution for the entire post-sale customer-facing lifecycle at other B2B SaaS companies, providing assistance to Onboarding, Professional Services, Customer Success, and Technical Support teams. Currently, B2B SaaS companies purchase individual tools for these teams; the premise of Flowork is that it is one tool that provides best in class functions for all of them at a significant cost savings.


No product like this currently exists in the marketplace. As this is an equity-only position to start, we realize that you might have a "day job" (our co-Founders do too); as part of the interview process, we'd like you to be up-front and honest with us about how much time you can devote to the project each week.


Required Tech Skills:


  • React - You’ve built customer facing SPAs with React. We’re in need someone who understands custom components, react state management, forms & file uploads and more.
  • Laravel - you’ve built APIs and/or monolith applications as well as scheduled jobs, custom artisan commands and automated testing. We’re looking for someone who has launched customer facing products with Laravel.


Nice To Have Tech Skills:


  • InertiaJS - We’re using inertia as the ‘glue’ between our React frontend and our Laravel Backend - again - experience here is nice to have, but not necessary
  • TailwindCSS - a utility first CSS framework. Experience here is a nice to have but not necessary as it’s an easy toolset to pick up and start using


What are we looking for in a candidate?


  • Someone whose okay working ‘alone’ - while you’ll be working hand in hand with our CTO to build out this application - understand that you will be the core / first full time engineer hired for the company - so you’ll need to be able to help us make decisions and then implement them
  • We’d love to have someone who has worked at startups in the past and understands the ‘uncertainty’ of the beginning of a startup where you’re still actively planning, developing, pivoting and honing in on the core of the product
  • You’ll understand that our codebase (at least at the start) won’t be a work of art - our goal is to get the product out the door - and we may let a few ‘code smells’ into production in order to get the product launched - (but we will only allow ourselves to do this if we have a plan to later come back and fix them)


What’s the interview process look like?


  • Round 2: Architecture Discussion - Candidates who make it past round 1 will be given an architecture challenge to think about how they would solve a particular problem. You’ll meet again with our CTO to dive into how you would solve this problem - this is not a ‘coding assignment’ - this is a ‘thinking assignment’ - your deliverable will be notes / a writeup around how you would solve the problem. - ~1 hour meeting
  • Round 3: Chat with our CEO - The top handful of candidates that make it through Round 2 will have a 30-45 minute chat with our CEO to talk about the company and our future vision.
  • Round 1: Intro call with our CTO - we’ll talk about your background and experience building applications. - 30-45 minute meeting
