Job Title: Volunteer Full Stack Engineer / Potential Co-Founder at OpenPolitica
OpenPolitica, a burgeoning non-profit organization, is looking for a passionate Full Stack Engineer to join our small team. Our mission is to revolutionize the way citizens engage with policymaking through PolicyWeb, our innovative AI-powered platform.
This is a unique opportunity to become a co-founder of a project with the potential to redefine democratic engagement. We are preparing to apply for the upcoming winter batch of Y Combinator, one of the world's leading startup accelerators. Successful candidates will join us in this journey as co-founders, with the potential for significant future benefits.
Please note, this is currently an unpaid position. However, beyond the co-founder opportunity, there is the potential to join the non-profit board or secure a paid position in the future as our organization grows.
Responsibilities:
- Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency.
- Work closely with our current team to design, develop, and deploy elements of our PolicyWeb platform.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software.
- Collaborate on decision-making to shape the technical direction of our platform.
- Contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle.
- Write technical documentation.
Requirements:
- Passion for our mission to make democratic processes more accessible and engaging.
- Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of multiple front-end languages and libraries (e.g., HTML/ CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery).
- Knowledge of multiple back-end languages (e.g., C#, Java, Python) and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Node.js).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a desire to create efficient, scalable code.
- Familiarity with databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB), web servers (e.g., Apache), and UI/UX design.
