Sony Electronics is hiring for a Sr. Facilities Manager in San Diego, CA.
Basic Responsibilities:
  • Design, engineering, project and construction management.
  • May be asked to establish and oversee facility related health and safety standards.
  • Real estate and property management.
  • Assists with the coordination of building space allocation for finance department.
  • Assists with facility retrofits, tenant improvements and furniture reconfigurations.
  • Assists with business unit events. Works on scheduling, planning, allocating resources, estimating and budgeting for events.
  • Plans, budgets, and schedules facility department functions, including estimates on replacement equipment, labor, materials and other related costs. Prepares annual operating budget for management approval.
  • Manages the maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, property and facilities.
  • Affiliate (SCA, SIE, SPE) support.
  • Supervises employees responsible for building maintenance and supervises outsourced facility service providers.
  • Facilities operations and maintenance including budgets, service contracts, and events support.
  • Designs and develops organizational policies relevant to the facilities department.
  • Human resources management of employees and service providers.
Budget Responsibilities:
Operating budgets are created under this position for several SNA sites. Budget performance is a KPI. Responsible for bidding and contract management of 3rd party service providers.
Other Responsibilities:
Responsible for department productivity. Regular review of operations required to promote productive, safe, and efficient environment. Incident Commander role during evacuation drills.
Confidential Information:
Requires appropriate handling of confidential information such as personnel records, facilities data, and 3rd party information. Treats service and project bids confidentially.
Direct and indirect supervision:
At least three direct employee reports, and supervision of at least 6 out-sourced service providers personnel. Coordinate activities of over 90 contractors, service providers and Property Management firms. Provide leadership and technical guidance when needed to SNA teams in Atlanta, San Jose, Los Angeles, Paramus, Novi, and Rochester locations.
Communication:
Meetings with direct reports and service providers as required for efficient facility operation and project success. Responsible for communicating facility announcements regarding holiday schedules, construction, maintenance, and un-scheduled repair activities. Communication audience includes Sr. Management, Security, Human Resources, Planning, Real Estate, IT, Department BU Leaders, general employee population, leased property management, and government officials.
Often needed to provide remote support, typically late evenings and on weekends. Facility phones in San Diego and San Jose forwarded to cell phone for emergency response.
Qualifications:
  • Work experience required in the areas of heating and air conditioning operation and distribution, construction management, electrical systems and distribution, generators, electric motors, automation controls, plumbing and waste systems, central plant operations (boilers, chillers cooling towers and related equipment), package AC and DX units, fire suppression and life-safety systems, data center utilities, energy management, 3rd party contract negotiation, supervisory and personnel management, real estate management, code compliance.
  • Must have 15 years of work experience
  • Requires skills in project management, integrated workplace management software (IWMS) for work requests and preventative maintenance tasks, building management system (BMS) operation, internal database hosting, CAD, and Microsoft Office software.
Troubleshooting, Planning and Project Management Skills:
  • Makes decisions depending on severity; dispatches repair crews immediately, or waits for proposal and schedules repairs.
  • Ability to supervise and instruct subordinate personnel.
  • Ability to plan events and projects to maximize the benefits of existing facilities investment and existing conditions.
  • Understands how to use and apply tools and measuring devices needed to effectively troubleshoot failures.
  • Construction and tenant improvement (TI) in occupied spaces requires detailed advanced coordination. Projects must be completed with minimum disruption to business.
  • Anticipate needs of requestors and provide effective guidance for successful completion of projects.
  • Executes projects to completion, summarizes and follows-up to ensure goals are met.
  • Works with a variety of stakeholders to resolve concerns: Sr. Management, Security, Human Resources, Planning, Real Estate, IT Department, BU Leaders, and government officials.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment failures and plumbing problems. Facility maintenance personnel are 1st responders for repair and troubleshooting. 3rd party support may be needed for specialized equipment
  • Ability to plan steps needed, identifying bottlenecks and risks.
  • Develop subordinate skills to use advanced building technologies to aid in efficient operation of building systems and improve troubleshooting.
  • Tasks are varied and often require independent action. Recognize risk and seek guidance or support when needed.
  • Position requires ability to properly sequence work: develop plans, obtain approvals, develop trade schedules and communicate to stakeholders.
  • Establishes change management protocol (if necessary).
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $116,000.00 to $154,000.00. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for a bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare benefits (medical, dental, and vision), paid medical leave after three months of employment, a 401k plan with matching company contributions, vacation time, education assistance, student loan assistance program, eighty hours of paid sick leave time annually, and up to twelve weeks paid parental leave after six months of employment.
