SUMMARY:
The Sr. Director, Merchandising will focus on brand relationships, new brand acquisition, selection, and defining strategy/long-term growth for key areas of investment by partnering with cross functional support teams as well as focusing on managing styles, utilizing channel management, yield maximization, and end of life processes. They will set the vision, strategy, and goals for a portfolio of departments and/or categories. They will improve the team’s ability to make fast and impactful decisions and develop the next level of management talent in the organization. This person will work directly with the other Sr. Director, Merchandising and the Chief Merchandising Officer.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • Overseeing business units within the Buying division of the organization based on global needs and the organization’s best interests.
  • Developing relationships with sister site(s) counterparts on behalf of the business unit.
  • Providing leadership, mentoring, training, developmental goals, and performance management to Buying team members.
  • Reviewing open-to-buy plan and monitoring worklists.
  • Reviewing reports and analysis for vendor meetings and market appointments.
  • Assisting in the development of the Merchandising strategy, priorities, and vision.
  • Traveling, when necessary, for market trade shows and vendor appointments in support of buyers.
  • Developing and cultivating healthy and collaborative partnerships with vendor executives.
  • Developing the overall strategy, priorities, and vision for the business units.
  • Assessing reports and supplier performance at business reviews.
  • Assessing on-order to verify that purchase orders are meeting flow expectations.
  • Negotiating cost, terms, and dating with vendor executives.
  • Maintaining a current knowledge of product category trends, competitor behavior, and industry knowledge.
  • Assessing MTD sales trends versus plans, published forecasts, and guidance.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
  • At least twelve (12) years of merchandising experience.
  • At least four (4) years of experience exercising people management responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Business, Marketing, or related field or equivalent experience.
WHAT REALLY EXCITES US:
