Job Description

We are looking for the right leader for this new role that is a results driven Vice President, Merchandising to join our team. This role will report directly to the CEO. The right individual will have an entrepreneur spirit in looking at our legacy business and see the opportunities for centric merchandising strategies across all the business channels to achieve sales goals, gross margin, and inventory targets.

This leader will participate in the retail buying, planning, inventory management, allocation, and replenishment across all channels. In addition, this role will oversee supplies for all Tricoci Salon|Spas.

They will partner with cross-functional teams utilizing guest insights, market data, and business performance to bring great products to market, solve problems and build high performing teams.

Here are some highlights of what actions you will be doing in this role:

Leadership

  • Initiate change management and process improvement through problem solving and identifying opportunities and allocate resources to drive efficiencies and improve accuracy and best practices.
  • Attends trade shows and conferences to research new industry trends and products.
  • Be a strong coach and mentor to the team and lead the prioritization of the work to meet key objectives.
  • Work to align cross-functional teams on inputs, outputs, KPIs and accountabilities needed to effectively manage the outcomes and communicate updates.

KPI Management

  • ROI analyses on programs and strategic projects
  • Fill rate and cycle time
  • Guest satisfaction
  • Inventory turnover
  • GMROI
  • Create and drive execution of short and long-range financial targets that deliver on company goals and maximize sales and profitability including:
    • GMROI
    • Fill rate and cycle time
    • Inventory turnover
    • Guest satisfaction
    • ROI analyses on programs and strategic projects

Merchandise Purchasing

  • Develop and elevated merchandise assortment that is guest focused, on trend, and supports the overall strategic direction of Tricoci.
  • Build a vision for the function that drives category-level sales forecast accuracy.
  • Negotiates with brands and vendors to drive the best cost in both retail and supplies.
  • Ensure vendor partnership agreements are in place, executed, active and maintained for all vendors.

Allocation Management

  • Oversee item-level forecasting and ad-hoc analysis to identify inventory-related risks and opportunities and flow.
  • Responsible for creating the exit strategy and inventory aging standards for assortment.
  • Leverage data to drive improvements in planning efficiency and effectiveness for all business channels.
  • Oversees demand planning team with a focus on sales growth while driving gross margin and inventory turnover.

Strategic Planning

  • Collaborates with marketing team on best-in-class visual merchandise and marketing strategies.
  • Integrates brand, sourcing, marketing, visual merchandising, and retail supply chain functions into the merchandising process to make business decisions.
  • Recommend promotional pricing strategies that maximizes sales and margin and balances inventory.
  • Create strong financial ROI and P&L framework to measure profitability of each product line and each specific SKU/product.

Here are some of the skills and background that we are looking for in this leader:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact and influence all levels of management.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Strong PC skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Beauty experience a plus.
  • Ability to identify, develop and manage existing business and spot future trends.
  • Product development and sourcing experience is a plus but not necessary.
  • 15 years retail merchandising experience as a DMM/Buyer and preferably a Planner/Allocator.
  • Ability to work in an environment of uncertainty and yet be strategic, directional, and disciplined in staying focused on delivering guest value.
  • Excellent financial and analytical background.
  • Proven team-building skills, with a strong interest in professional development.
  • Excellent reputation in the marketplace for vendor management.
