Buyer - Procurement Manager

We are a global food CPG manufacturing company and we are seeking a Buyer or Procurement Manager for our HQ location in Chicagoland area.

The Buyer or Procurement Lead is responsible for the leadership and end to end performance management of the assigned Spend Category.

• The main responsibility of this position is to secure the supply on the material/services of the Plastics Materials Spend Category with a $30MM spend (70+ suppliers)
• This includes Bottles, Triggers, caps, plastic injection and miscellaneous materials used for In House production and Contract Manufacturers

Required:

• Process improvement proficiency, e.g., root cause understanding, lean methodology
• 3+ years of experience in product supply, buyer, procurement

Specifics:

• Quotes for different projects, with suppliers that align to our procurement strategy
• Understanding supply chain / buying/planning
• Be involved on all of the companies projects related to plastics, including cost savings projects
• Analytical experience (pricing approval to category)
• Dealing with suppliers day to day (supplier relationship management)
• RFP’s
• Negotiating (pricing, payment terms, tactical issues) with suppliers and internally

Overview:

A - Customer Service:

• Responsible for Vendor Performance Management
• Manages a wide supplier base and large spend in a category with high complexity of materials.

B - Sourcing Support:

• Review ongoing cost savings projects and drive on time implementation
• Support and lead the onboarding of new suppliers
• Identify needs and complete analysis for designated materials
• Identify, initiate, and execute Value Creation improvement projects

C - Process Improvement and Capabilities

• Identify and implement process improvements within Procurement and drive implementation with other cross-functional areas to minimize cost, reduce waste, and increase speed
