Job Description

We are looking for a full-time Sports Performance Coach! If you have the demonstrated knowledge of sport preparation and commitment to continuing education, apply today! We’re looking for someone who is willing and eager to work closely with sport coaches to create a cohesive training environment for varsity student athletes under their supervision and recognizes current trends in the field and able to bring those to Harvard-Westlake. You can set goals for the athletes that are challenging and realistic, while having a clear vision for your role and ability to motivate students, coaches, and parents to believe in that same vision.

As a Sports Performance Coach, you will:

  • Collaborate and communicate with sport coaches and Sports Medicine
  • Assist the Director of Sports Performance in all aspects of strength and conditioning activities for students and athletes in grades 7 through 12
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and challenging environment for middle and high school athletes
  • Design and implement yearly training plans for junior-varsity and varsity high school athletes
  • Teach middle school P.E. classes in the basics of strength training, gymnastics, speed, and agility under the supervision of the Director of Sports Performance
  • Assist other Sports Performance staff with teaching and coaching exercise technique from multiple disciplines such as weight training, plyometrics, sprinting, agility, and change of direction

What we’re looking for:

  • Enthusiasm to become part of the vibrant school community, broadly engaging with students and colleagues and attending events outside of their field of responsibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science/kinesiology or related field
  • Current CPR/First Aid
  • 3 years’ experience teaching/coaching athletes in strength and conditioning

Schedule: This is a full-time, on-site position.

Compensation: Anticipated base compensation is $60,000- $70,000 depending on experience. The position will begin July 1, 2023.
