Specialized Laboratory Technician Jobs

The Structural Biology Center (SBC) at Bridge Institute, USC is seeking a research technician for conducting protein expression, purification, crystallization and biological in-vitro assays. SBC is a protein biochemistry core facility providing specialized services and assistance to research laboratories within USC and beyond. We have developed highly specialized techniques and protocols to promote research when there is a need for protein expression, purification and structure determination of macromolecules alone or in complex with their partners like ligands, drug targets, binding-proteins or DNAs/RNAs. SBC has been providing services to more than forty USC laboratories and several non-USC institutes/pharmaceutical companies.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a background in molecular biology, chemical biology, cell biology, or closely related field to become a member of our team working at the cutting edge of research.

Minimum Requirements: BS or MS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or closely related discipline as well as work experience in recombinant protein expression and purification. Minimum Experience: 4 years

Highly Desired Qualifications: working knowledge and/or experience in recombinant protein expression, preparation of cell culture media, PCR; familiarity with general wet lab instrumentation including Chromatography systems, UV/VIS spectrophotometers, centrifuges, lyophilizers, etc.

Additionally, valuable but not strictly required qualifications include experience with techniques relevant for protein crystallization, crystal harvesting, sample preparation for Electron Microscopy, mass spectrometry, biochemical, biophysical, and cellular assays.

Hourly range: The hourly rate range for this position is $25.94 - $29. This position is contract funded.
