Job type: Paid Internship

Compensation: $20/hour plus prorated $500/month technology stipend

Time commitment: Full-time, ~90 days beginning June 2023

Location: 100% Remote, Telework

More Perfect Union is an advocacy and journalism organization with a mission to build power for the working class. We cover politics, policy, labor, business, and economics news through a class lens, and we pair our reporting with activism to help working people win policy fights. Launched in February 2021, More Perfect Union’s coverage has garnered over 100 million video views and hundreds of thousands of followers on social media.

We’re hiring a Social Media and Distribution Intern to join our growing team. The Social Media & Distribution Intern will assist in driving audience growth and engagement across multiple social platforms by scheduling content, making graphics, translating performance results into actionable insights, and helping to build a distribution network to share More Perfect Union content.

The Social Media & Distribution Intern must be a regular user of social media with a passion for, and substantial knowledge of, national politics and economic justice issues. The position requires exceptional interpersonal communication skills, a strong understanding of social media, and a desire to help develop and grow our brand.

Core Responsibilities:

• Receiving assignments from supervisor and colleagues for prompt action;
• Help build distribution plans and strategies to increase engagement with our content;
• Monitor analytics, audience sentiments, and social media trends;
• Assisting with all aspects of social distribution, including scheduling content, community management, and optimizing posts for engagement and search;
• Identify important, interesting, or underreported stories/facts/memes and use them to create compelling social media content;
• Operate in a nimble environment;
• Create shareable graphics, memes, and thumbnails for our social media channels;
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Update website regularly with new videos and content;

Experience/Qualifications:

• A self-starter who pays close attention to detail and is highly organized and capable of meeting tight deadlines;
• Regular user of social media;
• An excellent writer, communicator and collaborator, with strong interpersonal skills;
• Able to craft a distribution strategy for a particular video or story based on its topic and target audience;
• Available full-time hours and able to excel in a remote/work-from-home environment.
• Passion for, and substantial knowledge of, national politics and economic justice issues;
• Experience creating graphics for social media a plus;
