Simulation Senior Engineer I

In this role, you will work in the Computational Methods Group (CMG) in Driving Performance & Aero Test Department as a Person In Charge (PIC) doing spec setting and full vehicle thermal simulation.
A typical day will include:
- Occasional test support such as vehicle setup/preparation, dyno testing, and field test activities.
- Run full vehicle simulation models, post-process to make reports using standard format with conclusions and recommendations based on CFD analysis and make presentations in meetings as person in charge (PIC).
- Project planning and coordinating with development teams for overall department results. Attend meetings and create schedules.
- Utilize Star-CCM+ for meshing vehicle fluid and solid volumes for appropriate capturing of physics in modelling steady and transient flow to support project- or research-based vehicle development.
- Responsible for building full vehicle CFD simulation models for thermal simulation in StarCCM+, which includes: retrieve and prepare CAD parts for CFD simulation modelling; clean, mesh and separate geometry for proper CFD modelling. Gather appropriate modelling parameters for: material properties, porous media, rotating fans and wheels, convective heat transfer boundary conditions, operating conditions, etc.
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent). Advanced degree preferred.
- 4 years of working thermal management simulation experience in the automotive industry. Minimum of 8 years of overall experience
Knowledge and Skills
- Communication, Problem Solving & decision Making, Initiative, Planning & Organization, Flexibility & Adaptability
- Understanding and prior use of CFD software/methods Ability to communicate concerns and ideas through remote work environment
- Self-starter/initiative
Additional Position Information
- Lift 50 lbs, occasional travel, will be around combustible liquids (fuel)
