Job Description

Essential Function:


Identify, design, and manage process and systems automation to improve production material flow and handling, decrease production cycle time and decrease product scrap within existing and new manufacturing operations. Environments include silicon machining, chemical treatment, inspection, and cleanroom.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Manage automation projects from concept through implementation:
  • Operate effectively in multi-functional teams to deliver system-level solutions
  • Program and/or configure robotic solutions, including support in production environment
  • Select and oversee third-party integrators and/or suppliers
  • Lead installation, configuration, and test of automation systems
  • Apply continuous improvement concepts to reduce cost, time and scrap
  • Develop backup, restore, and maintenance procedures
  • Lead development and maintenance of plant-wide automation strategic plan
  • Analyze, design and evaluate automation systems
  • Train operations and maintenance team
  • Carry out special projects and all other additional duties as assigned
  • Evaluate space and power requirements to accept automation solution
  • Document project plan and specifications
  • Lead purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards
  • Identify automation design requirements based on activity levels, product envelope, product flow, fixtures/tooling and transportation methods

Qualifications:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • Experience working with third parties to develop and implement solutions
  • 5-7+ years of experience in automation design, integration and/or support
  • Ability to work both as an individual contributor, and as part of a team
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical publications, drawings & diagrams
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field; and 8 years of experience; or 15+ years of related experience
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal


Desired Qualifications:


  • Experience with vision systems
  • Experience programming industrial and collaborative robots
  • Experience working with Fanuc or Universal Robots
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC and electrical controls of motors, switches, diverters, etc.
  • Knowledge in Lean manufacturing, SPC, and Six Sigma
  • Experience designing with AutoDesk Inventor
  • Ability to analyze real time data and interpret information
  • Understanding of HMI (operator interface) controls

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the environment is moderate.
