For this growth position, we are specifically looking for a mid-level software engineer who enjoys working in a casual, flexible, high-paced work environment. Our focus is on finding a strong, creative software engineer interested in mobile development and contributing to the FOX Sports app before what will be an incredible Fall sports season consisting of the MLB World Series, FIFA Men’s World Cup, college football and the NFL including Super Bowl LVII.

About The Role

The Software Engineer I position is responsible for feature development within the FOX Sports Android mobile team. This role covers a variety of responsibilities and skills and is deeply integrated into the structure of the product development team.

a Snapshot Of Your Responsibilities

• Perform code reviews and assist less experienced teammates
• Develop and unit test new features of medium to high difficulty
• Participate in the generation of product technical specifications
• Stay current on sports and entertainment products, topics and trends
• Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
• Develop bug fixes of low to high difficulty
• Write clean, maintainable, optimized code at a brisk pace
• Stay current on mobile development best practices and trends
• Perform iterative improvement cycles for optimal code and user experience
• Participate in product brainstorming sessions

What You Will Need

• Experience with network level testing and proxy tools such as Charles
• Experience with Git, managed releases and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and problem solving
• Experience testing and troubleshooting software
• Hunger to learn and master new technologies on a frequent basis
• Experience with REST/JSON and API development tools such as Postman
• You will primarily work in a quiet professional office environment. Flexible work hours with casual dress
• You will be frequently required to use your hands and fingers to write, manipulate telephone, keyboard and mouse. You will be regularly required to hear, talk and use close vision
• Passionate about front-end development and creating consumer-facing products

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

• Interest in sports, streaming, visualizations and gambling
• Kotlin development experience
• Basic understanding of Android frameworks, API and UI/UX best practices
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or similar
• Basic understanding of Android Studio for building Android apps
• Experience with tools from Android Jetpack Suite
• Basic understanding of Kotlin Coroutines
