Shipping Specialist Jobs

Catbird is seeking a full-time Shipping Specialist to assist the Fulfillment & Shipping Manager in planning and daily management of the Shipping department activities to ensure a high level of inbound and outbound shipping integrity. This position is located at our Brooklyn Navy Yard warehouse.

Key Responsibilities

• Reads and responds to all shipping related emails and slacks in a professional and timely manner
• Develop new efficiencies for the department, and be open to change and embrace new opportunities
• Ability to identify and escalate problems or questions to the appropriate parties and seek resolution with all shipping-related issues
• Sustain a positive rapport with drivers and carrier representatives
• Coordinate domestic and international shipments for warranty repairs/replacements and return to vendor requests
• Assist manager with compiling monthly data, creating monthly/weekly shipping reports, as well as courier claim data.
• Collect completed outbound sales orders from packers and stage and/or palletize shipments for carrier pickups
• Provide daily shipping and receiving support across multiple departments, while ensuring quality assurance and customer service are maintained
• Ability to be flexible on changing and adapting process changes and to take on future learning opportunities
• Confirms accuracy of all incoming shipments against packing slips/purchase orders and then verifies all transactions in the software system
• Assist management with ongoing short and long term shipping projects
• Performs other warehouse duties including but not limited to fulfillment (picking and packing orders) and receiving duties as assigned. This can also include assisting with pre-pack and other fulfillment/ inventory down time tasks.
• Submits purchase requisitions for supply needs and creates receipts upon receiving of stock
• Flag complex receiving/shipping issues to appropriate parties including management, customer service teams, and courier representatives
• Review shipment records, invoices, claims, and reports for any inaccuracies and confirm completion of any pending documentation or follow ups within its assigned timelines; flag any overcharge discrepancies during review of records
• Fulfills outgoing transfer requests to our retail shops
• Collaborate with carriers to ensure timely delivery and tracking of packages, and be able to contact carriers to reroute packages as needed
• Schedule inbound and outbound transportation needs with our transporters and clients
• Must be able to occasionally work late and/or overtime
• Assists supervisor/manager in planning and coordinating daily incoming and outgoing shipping activities
• Data entry needed; scan shipments and upload data into multiple courier portals and maintain accurate transit logs files
• Assists managers on special customer requests and investigation of customer complaints to ensure they are properly handled and resolved
• Maintain client relationships, contact shipping service contractors regarding schedule changes and updates, attend meetings to review and/or flag service-based and customer-based performance in accordance with our service level agreement
• Adhere to and communicate workplace shipping, safety, and health protocols

$23.00/hour
