Job Description
Position Information
Examinations: Written Exam (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of basic socioeconomic principles; individual and group behavior principles; community resources; public relations principles; interviewing techniques; applicable local, state, and federal guidelines, regulations, laws, and programs; case management principles.
The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant a written examination. Should a written examination be necessary, the written examination will be weighted at 100%.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent, AND completion of sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter units from an accredited college or university with course work in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Behavioral Science, Criminal Justice, Social Work or a related field AND one (1) year of full time paid experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Qualifying related work experience may include, verifying documents to determine eligibility for benefits, social services and/or employment; conducting needs assessments; making referrals for services; interviewing clients and providing program information to the public.
Additional Requirements
Applicants will be required to pass an extensive background investigation and be fingerprinted. Disqualification for felony, misdemeanor and traffic offenses will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Possession and maintenance of a valid California Motor Vehicle Driver's License.
