Job Summary:
The Senior Vice President of Sales will oversee all three-tier sales activities of the company's portfolio of brands. This role will develop and implement territories, sales quotas, and strategies. The SVP of Sales will oversee and direct the sales teams or departments to meet or exceed sales revenue and contribute significantly to the overall profitability of the organization.
Essential Functions:
Sales Strategy and Leadership (80%)
- Adapts appropriately to internal and external changes affecting the sales function.
- Schedules and directs regular sales meetings and events to share information, set and revise goals, monitor progress, and increase morale.
- Responsible for management of the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Implements infrastructure and systems to support the success of the sales function.
- Identifies knowledge gaps within the sales team and develops and executes plans for filling them.
- Generates leads and establishes and nurtures industry relationships; meets with potential clients and grows long-term relationships that address their needs.
- Recruits, hires, trains, motivates, and advises a team of sales representatives, ensuring use of effective sales tactics to meet revenue objectives.
- Oversees trade marketing programs and promotions to increase sales and/or introduce new products.
- Partners with Human Resources to define and coordinate sales training programs that enable the sales team to achieve their potential and that support company sales objectives.
- Reviews and analyzes sales and operational records and reports; uses data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and identify potential new markets.
- Represents the organization effectively with comprehensive knowledge of offerings.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement in all sales regions; designs and implements training, strategies, policies, goals, and other resources to maximize productivity and morale.
- Creates and executes a strategic sales plan that expands our customer base and extends the company’s global reach.
- Collaborates with sales managers to develop sales goals for each region, monitor progress toward those goals, and develop strategies to attract and retain customers.
- Provides leadership to the sales team and oversees sales activities.
Additional Tasks and Responsibilities (20%)
- Maintains knowledge of market, competition, and best practices and trends in sales techniques and strategies.
- Prepares and implements budget; monitors and approves expenses.
- Collaborates with other executives to develop territories, sales quotas, and strategies.
Qualifications:
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent sales and customer service skills, with proven negotiation skills.
- Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication, and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail, innovation ability, and the ability to manage multiple projects and ensure projects are completed on time.
- Thorough understanding of the organization’s brand and products, and those of immediate competitors in the surrounding market.
- Proven ability to accurately complete growth forecasting and analysis.
- Successful track record in senior sales role with proven track record of success throughout the entire sales cycle, from planning to closing.
- Proficiency with MS Office and G-Suite.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated in a fast-paced environment.
- Superior managerial and diplomacy skills.
- Excellent math skills to draft and implement budgets and conduct data analysis.
- Proven ability to manage a profit and loss statement.
- Superior skill in IRI and Nielsen data analysis.
- Excellent key stakeholder management, including distributors and key national accounts.
Education and Experience
- Experience in the wine and spirits industry required.
- At least ten years of experience in sales, with extensive experience in sales leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related field.
Location:
Preference for candidates in the Western Region. However, given the national scope of this role, candidates in the Central and Eastern Regions are highly encouraged to apply! Very open to remote employees.
