Compensation: $225,000 - $300,000 plus bonus potential


Overview:

The position of Senior Vice President of Operations is a senior level managerial position and a progression position which ultimately must result in succession to the executive level position of Chief Operating Officer. The position is responsible for the management, supervision, and execution of individual projects, activities, and Venture initiatives under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer.

Under direction of the Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President of Operations will negotiate, develop, critique, and create contracts, leases, and other agreements; manage and execute projects and initiatives at the senior management level; and partner with the Vice President of Operations for successful development of the Venture.

In addition, having a working knowledge of utility systems, infrastructure development, and utility department operations as this position will manage the development of vital infrastructure projects for ensuring the eventual and reliable provision of cost-effective utility services, while acting as a liaison for Leadership, including the Chief Operating Officer, Venture Ownership, Management, consultants, vendors, and all levels of daily operations.

Primary Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Assures that potential risk factors have been evaluated and reviewed with senior management.
  • Ensuring proper governance is established and maintained
  • Negotiates, develops, critiques, and creates contracts, leases, and other agreements at the direction of the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Builds and facilitates collaborative team processes between Project Participants.
  • Planning and executing infrastructure development projects, including new construction and upgrades to existing systems, ensuring services are provided efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively.
  • Coordinates, manages, and supervises the work of subordinate members and support staff.
  • Manages and executes projects and initiatives at the senior management level.
  • Partners with the Vice President of Operations and / or Construction Manager.
  • Is responsible for supervision and development of subordinate management personnel.
  • Fosters a productive working atmosphere among the project participants.


Communication:

  • Prepares professional business letters, reports, or presentations as a routine action.
  • Offers constructive feedback that facilitates growth in team members.
  • Intercedes, when necessary, to resolve disputes
  • Issues appropriate directives in writing, leaving nothing to guesswork or misinterpretation.

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and logic skills with the ability to maintain a high degree of precision on detailed work.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and economic principles such as ROR, IRR, NPV, P&L, GAAP, FASB, and corporate governance protocols is a must have skill set.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build successful and lasting relationships with team members, owners, consultants, vendors, contractors, regulators, governmental stakeholders, general public, and executive management.
  • High energy and self-motivated with a sense of urgency to complete assigned tasks.
  • Strong track record of ethical behavior
  • Highly developed communication skills (listening, influence management, consensus development) paired with outstanding presentation skills.
  • Fifteen to twenty plus years’ experience in relevant field.
  • Registered as Professional Engineer or ability to attain registration as Texas PE, is HIGHLY desired.
  • Bachelor's degree (BA / BS) from a four-year college or university. Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, while is not an absolute requirement, is desirable.
  • Strong computer skills, including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel). Familiarity with Project management and GIS software is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, consistently meet or beat deadlines.
  • A working knowledge in municipal utility and Municipal Utility District (MUD) operations.
