Our Corporate Legal department provides timely and cost-effective legal services of the highest caliber. The Sr. Regulatory & Compliance Attorney supports day-to-day operations and legal advice and counsel to various departments regarding regulatory and compliance matters.
In Publix's corporate offices, we value in-person interactions, similar to those our store associates have with customers. Each business area implements their policy differently and should be discussed during interviews.
What you’ll do
- Assist with the design, development, implementation and on-going oversight and management of the compliance programs relating to Publix’s operations
- Assist with antitrust, HIPAA, records management and other regulatory training
- Assist the records management compliance team, the OSHA safety compliance team, and the food labeling compliance team
- Manage litigation, demand letters, and government agency inquiries related to a wide array of regulatory matters such as food labeling, marketing/advertising, benefits, and consumer-related issues
- Knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to supermarket business
- Ability to be positive, proactive, and flexible in dealing with a variety of situations, personalities, and levels of knowledge, understanding, and experience
- Ability to adapt to unfamiliar business operations, systems, regulations, etc.
- Ability to work independently, productively and follow through on all responsibilities to bring projects to a successful conclusion
- Member of a state bar association with at least seven years of general regulatory and compliance practice experience
- Ability to supervise others, and lead and manage resources
- Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite and Lexis and/or Westlaw
- Ability to negotiate and be an advocate for Publix
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal format
- Skilled in analysis and problem solving
- Juris Doctor degree
- Ability to read and interpret legal and regulatory documents
- Skilled in planning, organization, and time management
- Admitted to and in good standing with a bar association within the United States
