Position Overview: The Senior Project Manager for Initiatives within the Government and Community Relations Department will be responsible for managing stakeholder engagement for projects in the citywide Initiatives portfolio which supports a range of industries including Green Economy, Offshore Wind, Life Sciences and Tech. The Senior Project Manager will also lead special projects as assigned. The Senior Project Manager will be asked to support cross-departmental projects that will touch upon a wide variety of industries and external partners. The Senior Project Manager will be staffed on multiple projects and should have the ability to manage several projects against tight timelines This position will report to the Vice President Government and Community Relations


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Identify and develop strategies to solve simple issues and work with manager on strategy for more complex problems.
  • Citywide Initiatives
  • Initiate and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders across the initiatives portfolio, establish trust and a positive rapport.
  • With guidance from the VP of Government and Community Relations create public, elected official and stakeholder engagement and multi-faceted communications strategies.
  • Support a portfolio of cross-departmental or cross-agency projects, ensure external project objectives are achieved, key timelines are managed and met, and actively monitor and track progress of public commitments and project goals to serve New Yorkers.
  • Develop relationships with Initiatives' project teams and advise on stakeholder engagement and communication strategies, serve as a liaison between project teams and the External Affairs division
  • Work collaboratively across the External Affairs Division to effectively create and deliver presentations, write memos, and create other materials for various audiences (e.g., senior EDC staff, City Hall staff, partner agencies, public hearings, external stakeholders)
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Provide project/administrative support for other GovCo Team members on short-term, interim, and long-term projects as needed
  • Departmental Support
  • Manages ongoing processes for the GovCo team, including, but not limited to weekly reports, newsletters, correspondence, webinars, and ongoing strategic engagement between NYCEDC leadership and key external stakeholders.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree required. Liberal arts, political science, public policy, psychology, sociology, etc. preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Highly organized individual, capable of prioritizing competing interests and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience working with elected officials, public agencies, government affairs, communications, community relations, and/or community-based organizations.
  • New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire
  • Strong research skills.
  • Ability to travel within the five boroughs of New York City and attend evening and weekend meetings.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge and experience in the following industries, preferred: climate justice, technology, and life sciences
  • Experience advancing and staffing a principal preferred, ideally a government or elected official.


Salary Range


$75,000—$77,000 USD
