Primary Responsibilities:

Provide technical expertise in building architecture, design and engineering database solutions using modernization technology stacks.

Functions may include database architecture, engineering, design, optimization, security, and administration; as well as data modelling, data warehouse development, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL / ELT) development, storage engineering, data warehousing, data provisioning and other similar roles. Responsibilities may include Platform-as-a-Service and Cloud solution with a focus on data stores and associated eco systems. Duties may include management of design services, providing sizing and configuration assistance.

  • Develop and implement Database security policies and procedures, in line with corporate objectives
  • Proactive database monitoring and issue resolution
  • Regular proactive capacity planning and tending reviews of all oracle databases. Producing weekly, monthly management reports
  • Participate in project design and Oracle database design decisions. Refine and troubleshoot the design
  • 24×7 rotational on-call support, including driving Root Cause Analysis (RCA), preventative action follow-through, and participation in weekly operations reviews
  • All aspects of database administration including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, migration, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup and recovery
  • Proficiency with network troubleshooting tools and techniques
  • Create and maintain appropriate documentation about the database and the data architecture
  • Change management including maintenance of multiple development, test, QA, and production environments. Responsible for deploying approved changes to production
  • Develop/implement Linux tooling – Linux utility suite, shell, Python, etc.
  • Linux System Administration
  • Actively participate and contribute to projects involving enterprise systems enhancements
  • Project Estimation process – including attending project kick-offs and design reviews as necessary to appropriately size new environments, recommend infrastructure solutions and deliver associated cost and resource effort estimates
  • Database and PL/SQL optimization including performance tuning, query optimization and supportability; experience with Oracle 19c

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience database design and stored procedure development
  • Experience in SQL and Oracle tuning
  • 4+ years of experience in Database Administration
  • Experience participating in team software development projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Linux
  • Solid analytical and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineer, MIS
  • Experience in PL/SQL, Perl
  • Certifications as an Oracle Database Administrator
  • Experience using cloud technologies (Azure or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - OCI)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
