Long Island University invites applications for the position of Database Web Developer. Note that this position is NOT remote position and the office is located at 700 Northern Blvd, Greenvale 11548, and you need to submit your exam as part of your cover letter (see below). The Database Web Developer will assist with p rogramming and administering in-house web applications for various initiatives at the University. This role will provide applications support and trouble-shooting support as needed.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Provide periodic reports, evaluations, and recommendations on project progress.
- Integrating design UI/UX and technical skill sets into project execution, implementation and maintenance.
- Monitor existing applications to ensure they are running at optimum performance, and upgrade software as needed.
- Complete tasks as per supervisor’s direction.
- Develop and maintain University Databases and Web/Mobile based applications.
- Provide routine technical support to University applications.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; or equivalent 4-5 years’ experience.
Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
- Expert in one of major design frameworks, such as Bootstrap.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and exercise good time management, prioritization/organizational skills, and ability to escalate issues when necessary.
- Proficiency in C#, ASP.NET; MS SQL Server; and XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Understanding of application architecture, data structure, and technology infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of current Adobe media tools such Photoshop and prototyping tools for UI/UX design.
- Experience in the field, especially in the higher education setting.
Working Conditions:
- Access to sensitive information systems data subject to information security & privacy regulations; high-level of professional judgment required.
- Must be willing to work weekends and evenings if necessary.
- Must have valid driver’s license/ or ability to travel to all campuses, when requested to do so.
- Office environment.
