Job Description
The Opportunity:


As the Senior Manager of Portfolio Strategy and Operations, you will work closely with leaders across our organization to support strategic initiatives while reporting to the VP of Strategy and Operations. You will play a key role in building and shaping a first-class R&D Strategy and Operations group at Relay Tx as we grow. 


You will help ensure flawless operation of activities across Research & Development. You will help define the shape of our portfolio working hand in hand with collaboratively with R&D Ops and leaders across Relay Tx. You will enable collaboration and alignment across teams to help evolve Relay Tx from a bold start-up to a new type of biotechnology company. We’re not into following the script.  Help us write our own.

Your Role:


  • You are critical to the management and maintenance of the R&D section of the long-range strategic plan, in close collaboration with your R&D Operations colleagues
  • Do you see problems as opportunities? Let’s talk. You will be expected to bring structure to complex and ambiguous problems, synthesize findings, develop creative / innovative options, make logically supported recommendations.
  • You are someone who has the communication chops to build narratives, craft visuals, refine messaging and tell compelling stories as we communicate progress back to the Executive Leadership Team and Board. You will also manage and maintain R&D corporate goals.
  • You will play a critical role in ensuring that R&D activities operate flawlessly. Meaning, you will help to update and refine key processes and governance structures within R&D as we grow and scale the team. You will also help steer Leadership Team agendas and major R&D meetings (including leadership off-sites and critical cross-functional forums)
  • You’re able to synthesize data, trends and industry best practices with the best of them, creating solutions that can be applied to the way in which we manage our R&D Portfolio
  • You thrive operating in a matrixed role and seamlessly facilitate cross functional discussions to drive towards shared goals and program progression.


Your Background:


  • You are an open and candid communicator and know how to leverage your strong EQ, organizational savviness, and collaborative nature to lead and develop alignment across teams and organizations
  • You have a science or management consulting background
  • You have experience (minimum 2-3 years) in management consulting, operations, program management and executive communication
