AES Clean Energy (AES CE), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation, specializes in developing, owning, and operating utility scale PV solar projects, distributed generation PV solar projects, PV solar projects combined with battery energy storage systems (BESS), stand-alone battery energy storage projects and wind generation projects. AES CE currently has over 5 GW of solar, wind and storage projects in operation in the U.S., with an additional 1 GW+ in construction.
With a business goal to grow our operating portfolio to 15+ GW by 2025, and a development pipeline to support achieving that goal, now is an amazing time to join the AES CE team as it continues its exponential growth.
AES CE is seeking an O&M leader focused on preparing for our growth and optimizing performance at existing sites. This role is responsible for planning and executing staffing plans for sites in late-stage construction and commercial operation, supporting training activity required for successful site launch and operation, identifying and executing site-level process improvements to improve safety, performance and reliability, and delivering plans to supply sites with the technical, office, warehousing and administrative tools to be effective.
This role will support the O&M team across all technologies, including current wind, solar, & solar + BESS projects, and all geographies. Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Monitoring project/program from initiation through delivery. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/program on schedule and within budget constraints.
  • Partnering with regional leadership and the Director, Transition & Warranty in planning site staffing levels; identify any possible variances from the baseline labor cost approval case.
  • Working with field operations to develop standard template for tools, equipment, safety gear for existing sites, broken done by type and size of project.
  • Supplying existing field regions with the technical, office, warehousing and administrative tools to be effective. This includes developing and implementing a plan to provide administrative and repair space for current regions.
  • Identifying site-level process improvement initiatives that optimize staffing levels and enhance site performance and reliability.
  • Identifying opportunities for site-specific training needs and presents needs to Director, Transition & Warranty in order to meet O&M goals in terms of safety, quality, output and cost.
  • Developing and delivering standardized reporting on O&M labor costs in conjunction with FP&A.
  • Analyzing O&M assumptions in the approval case for each project and establishing reports on the baseline O&M cost structure related to site personnel.
  • Working with other departments, such as portfolio management and commercial teams, to determine and communicate critical project deliverables that if not met could lead to default and/or termination of critical project agreement, such as power purchase agreements or financings.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Ability to cooperate and collaborate efficiently across multiple professional disciplines, while creating results through team work as well as independently
  • Renewable energy industry (solar, wind and energy storage) experience is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an honest open communication style
  • Ability to understand legal, commercial and technical issues in detail and negotiate successful outcomes with stakeholders in a trustworthy atmosphere
  • Demonstrated experience in managing challenging situations and coming up with long term fixes.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or significant renewable energy related experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Project, Word and ability to learn new software programs.

Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
