The Role
Become part of the Informix and MySQL DBA team & provide database support for various databases.
The Main Responsibilities
- Very deep knowledge of Informix and MySQL architecture in different versions is a must
- Excellent automation skills (ie awk, sed, ksh. Peril)
- Participate in on-call support rotation for all databases
- Working knowledge of Informix and MySQL backup and recoveries
- Ability to provide guidance to junior and mid-level DBAs
- Ability to spend a significant amount of time with application teams in helping them tune code running within databases
- Provide very senior-level DBA support to enterprise Informix and MySQL databases
- Have a solid and thorough approach to tuning very complex database problems
- Able to work well in a large DBA team with an offshore model
- Able to work well in a large DBA team with many members with various experience levels
What We Look For in a Candidate
- Experience with scalability challenges with On-Prem and Cloud platforms
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience managing Informix and/or MySQL databases on Solaris, Linux, and VMWare
- Demonstrated knowledge of emerging technologies, trends, & platforms
- Experience in hybrid DBA model (onshore/offshore)
- Self-starter and ability to work on issues till resolution
- Ability to take full ownership of assigned projects
- Ability to train other team members in database tuning and other database technologies
- Experience with Informix, MySQL, and Clustering
- Support security policies to ensure the integrity of data
- Excellent organization and oral/written communications skills
- Good design, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities and the ability to understand end user experience.
- Naturally takes ownership of projects and drives them to completion with high-quality outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working in a large DBA team
