General Description


The Senior Director, R&D Communications leads the strategy and execution of external communication plans and materials for the R&D organization with an emphasis on the pipeline and partnerships.


The incumbent will provide expertise and advice to partners within the various R&D functions and work collaboratively with the global corporate communications, Corporate Affairs, and Investor Relations functions.


This position will be an advocate on behalf of R&D across internal and external communications channels. The incumbent will serve as a strategic thought partner to the Vice President, Corporate Communications regarding complex problems, current and future initiatives, strategies, and budget allocation.


Essential Functions Of The Job


  • Responsible for the creation, review and execution of communication materials for the activities of BeiGene’s partnering activities and agreements (including press releases and external newsflow).
  • Develop thought leadership platforms and news strategy for key pipeline inflections, investments, and partnership milestones.
  • Ensure R&D external communication strategies and plans within R&D align with BeiGene company objectives as well as with the specific business objectives for the pipeline portfolio.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to draft and finalize internal and externally-facing documents like press releases, Q&A documents, holding statements, etc.
  • Lead or support R&D external communication activities when issues and/or crises arise.
  • Serve as the R&D corporate spokesperson with media when needed.
  • Leverage BeiGene external communication channels, including social media, and make recommendations to continuously improve our external communications approach in regard to R&D inflection points.
  • Develop and implement an annual strategic communication plan for R&D that reflects the organization’s strategic vision, pipeline assets, and key partnerships.
  • Act as responsible party for R&D external communications budget, including public relations agency and vendor relationships and budget management.

  • Deep experience in R&D communications.

Education Required


Bachelor’s degree required.

Salary Range: $187,800.00 - $257,800.00 annually

Actual compensation packages are determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location. Packages may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor. The recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for a preferred location during the hiring process. Please note that the listed range reflects the base salary or hourly range only. Non-Commercial roles are eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan, and Commercial roles are eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
