LSI's Growth Organization is expanding, and to meet our ongoing corporate growth strategy we are seeking a Senior Director of Business Development to join our team. This position would support the Western US Territory and could be based remotely in the region or out of Washington DC.


Job Summary


As Senior Director of Business Development, your primary focus will be assisting clients in achieving their desired results by working with and supporting LSI’s Business Development Practice Area. Reporting directly to the Chief Growth Officer (CGO), you will play a pivotal role in the Growth Organization, combining responsibilities of traditional Business Development and Account Management.


Within LSI, each Practice Area has a dedicated team consisting of Delivery and Business Development leaders. As BD Director, you will collaborate closely with your Delivery Team counterparts to protect and expand existing business, identify strategic areas for growth within current customers and clients, and explore new client opportunities or enter new markets. Success in this role relies heavily on strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.


Key Responsibilities


Business Growth Planning and Execution


  • Support proposal activities and contribute to their success.
  • Manage and maintain a growth pipeline, identifying, qualifying, and shaping new business opportunities.
  • Execute or coordinate the execution of capture plans.
  • Meet defined growth goals and objectives.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive business growth plans for the Business Development Division.
  • Develop, manage, and nurture relationships with new customers.


Relationship Management


  • Direct marketing activities to engage customers and increase opportunity win rates.
  • Establish and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with customers and clients.
  • Develop tailored solutions that align clients' needs with LSI's capabilities.
  • Educate clients on the range of LSI's offerings and capabilities.
  • Understand current and emerging needs and requirements of the clients' customers.


Milestone Monitoring and Reporting


  • Develop integrated plans to establish, monitor, manage, and report on key milestones and deliverables.
  • Track progress against growth targets and provide regular updates to the CGO and other relevant stakeholders.


Industry and Business Development Expertise


  • Stay informed about potential competitors and partners within the industry.
  • Leverage existing networks of clients and partners to support business development efforts.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the Business Development services.


Required Qualifications:


  • Capability to develop a $50 million opportunity pipeline and successfully capture $7-10 million in new business within the next 12 months.
  • Demonstrated success in winning large and complex opportunities.
  • Successfully complete background screen
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Proven track record of large-scale pipeline development and execution, including successful capture of large/significant pursuits, with consistent achievement of quotas.
  • Customer intimacy with relevant customer communities across the area of Business Development.
  • Have an active Secret Security Clearance
  • Prior operational or sales experience within Business Development.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Strong sales methodology and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to motivate and collaborate with others effectively.
  • Ability to travel - 25%
  • In-depth understanding of federal acquisition and government contracting processes.
  • Ability to establish immediate credibility with clients, build consensus, and achieve goals through influence.
  • Previous experience as a business development executive with a large government contractor.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of combined government and/or industry experience with a focus on acquisition, strategy, business development, and/or capture.
