Senior Deputy Director For Exhibitions & Collections

Duties:

Oversee scheduling and production of all Museum art collection displays, rotations, exhibitions, and installations. Oversee maintenance, movement and storage of Museum collections (over 200,000 objects across six curatorial departments), including imaging and documentation. Negotiate national and international art loans. Promote collaboration between curatorial support departments. Conduct national and international art exhibition partnerships and tours. Manage and analyze top-line exhibition and collections budgets. Work with Museum leadership and curatorial staff to develop strategic plans and exhibitions that meet needs of the Museum and its audiences, goals of exhibition program, and fulfillment of Museum’s core mission.

Requirements:

Master’s degree in Art History or Visual Arts and 5 years of experience in position offered or in a Chief, Director, or Assistant Director role at an art museum. All required experience must have included liaising with senior leadership of international museums to plan and negotiate major international loan exhibitions; overseeing multi-year budgeting process with budget of at least $10-15 million for exhibitions, commissions and collection care; partnering with museum leadership, Board of Trustees and associated committees to conduct long-term strategic planning; overseeing multi-year exhibition scheduling that balances curatorial ambition and museum’s mission with fiscal responsibility; and ensuring compliance with union contracts. Salary: $416,000/year. 9AM-6PM, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday.
