Job Description

Job Summary:


We are seeking a highly organized and initiative-driven individual to join our team as a Financial Controller. As a renowned business management firm serving high net-worth clients in the sports and entertainment industry, we provide comprehensive financial and advisory services, including accounting, tax, tour management, and wealth preservation strategy. The Financial Controller will play a crucial role in managing the company's accounting functions, financial operations, and compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with the management team to ensure accurate financial reporting, strategic planning, and operational excellence.


Essential Job Responsibilities:


Planning:

  • Review, develop, and implement policies and procedures to streamline workflow, such as client invoicing.
  • Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction.
  • Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans and develop financial and tax strategies.
  • Train and develop Senior Accountants.
  • Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
  • Manage the capital request and budgeting processes.
  • Provide motivation, training, and development opportunities to team members, fostering improvement and individual career growth.
  • Manage and lead a high-functioning accounting team, ensuring goals and deliverables are consistently met.
  • Oversee all company accounting functions, including budgeting, cash projections, month-end close, tax preparation, year-end financials, and monthly forecasting.


Operations:

  • Assist with administering payroll for the company.
  • Provide oversight over day-to-day financial management activities performed by Senior Staff Accountants, including bill pay, revenue tracking, commission reporting, and company-specific accounting and reporting.
  • Maintain strong relationships with all members of the management team.
  • Implement best business practices to optimize operations.
  • Oversee ad hoc projects as needed.
  • Participate in key decisions as a member of the management team.
  • Manage third-party vendors or outsourced functions.
  • Oversee the financial operations of the company.


Reporting:

  • Establish financial and operating metrics to measure performance.
  • Ensure the issuance of accurate financial reporting packages, including annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly deliverables.
  • Prepare monthly soft closings.
  • Oversee the establishment of ad hoc financial models as needed and the production of budgets and forecasts.


Compliance:

  • Implement appropriate and reliable control systems.
  • Review all filings and reported information schedules, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitor cash projections and forecasts.
  • Ensure record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
  • Monitor insurance renewals and claims.


Qualifications

  • CPA, CFP, or CMA required.
  • Experience managing a staff is a must.
  • 10+ years of progressive public accounting, business management, and/or entertainment experience.
  • This position is NOT REMOTE and is onsite. The client does offer a relocation package.
  • BS in Business Administration, specifically Accounting, Finance, Economics, with strong academic record.
  • Proven track record of outstanding performance in a previous job.
  • Must have experience in partnering with an executive team and have high level written and oral communication skills.
  • 5+ years in specifically entertainment industry
