Senior Consultant - Power Markets

This position is focused on analyzing transmission markets, renewable energy strategies, and energy systems modeling.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading tasks, coordinating modeling teams and managing projects that deliver solutions to identified client problems, including review and presentation of analytical findings. The successful candidate will also coordinate the deployment of a variety of analytical and modeling techniques to develop forecasts of electricity market dynamics and to develop assessments of existing and proposed renewable generation and transmission resources.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Project execution responsibility of power market analysis engagements
• Lead market analysts in modeling nodal power markets and the risks of curtailment and congestion
• Manage client engagements and proposal generation functions to deliver power market consulting services
• Build cost-benefits models of power systems
• Analyzes zonal and nodal energy models
• Manage consulting projects ranging from assessments of new generating assets to large-scale research and policy studies
• Maintain expertise on regional power markets including ERCOT, WECC, CAISO, MISO, PJM, NYISO, SPP, and ISO-NE, SERC

Qualifications:

• Power market analysis, transmission planning and/or consulting experience
• Energy modeling and forecasting software experience (e.g., PROMOD, Plexos, Aurora, etc.)
• Energy market knowledge and modeling skills
• Energy market forecasting and analysis experience
• Programming experience (e.g., Python, R, SQL, etc.)
• Technical management and execution leadership
