We are recruiting for a Senior Category Manager, Clinical Services, accountable for owning and managing multiple Clinical category services globally within Janssen R&D Procurement. The role is to be based in Titusville NJ, Raritan NJ, or Spring House Pennsylvania.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Janssen Procurement regional heads, and where appropriate directly with senior business leaders, to ensure alignment with regional business strategies
• Determine the Janssen business needs globally for the following sub-categories: Central Medical Imaging Services, Interactive/Web-Based Trial Randomization Services, Central Echocardiogram (ECG) Services, Digital Health solutions as they evolve including (but not limited to) Actigraphy
• Lead major strategic negotiations for owned categories on behalf of the business
• Shape performance targets for the Janssen Procurement organization in the role’s areas of responsibility, and ensure target achievement
• Establish positive relationships with key business partners and Procurement teams (i.e., Agile, Cross-category) within the company engaged in the management of Clinical Services sub categories
• Identify industry trends that Procurement must build into its category strategies to ensure balanced relevance to the Janssen business
• Participate in the select business partner Leadership Teams to provide leadership to the function in the achievement of Janssen business objectives
• Mitigate business risk through the understanding of commercial, legal and regulatory requirements and the use of efficient contracting channels demonstrating standard processes and technology.
• Minimum of a Bachelors degree and/or equivalent, required. MBA or further advanced degree is preferred.
• Identify key external relationships including customers, suppliers, industry associations to ensure Category strategies reflect evolving trends
• Lead the global category strategy development and implementation, and key supplier management, for the relevant categories
• Devise Procurement strategies to support critical time sensitive clinical trials and collaborate with key stakeholders to advance business priorities

Experience And Skills

Required:

• Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in a business environment with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Procurement/Strategic Sourcing, Finance, Clinical Operations, or in a role working closely with Procurement
• Strong leadership and collaboration skills at the senior executive level, as well as with peers
• Strong intuition for business to understand challenges through the eyes of business leaders
• Influencing skills to challenge and persuade others to change behavior in pursuit of a common goal
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently present complex information to senior executives
• Experience with contract negotiations and supplier relationship management (formally and informally)
• Broad-based understanding of core procurement areas of focus (spend management, category management and supplier management)
• Ability to lead complex sourcing events with participation of multiple, cross-functional business partners
• Demonstrated learning agility, and the ability to improve both yourself and the people around you
• Strong project and change management capabilities

Preferred

• Experience with developing and writing category strategies or mentoring others to do so
• Consistent track record in leading cross-functional teams and implementing significant change programs
• Ability to present to large audiences
• High level of credibility with internal customers, and with the supplier community, based on broad experience
• Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment, while ensuring the organization is able to effectively and efficiently move through transitions
• Deep understanding of sourcing and procurement operations, processes, and strategy
• Solid understanding of Pharmaceutical R&D and the Clinical Trial process

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $116,000- $200,100 USD.
