Functional area: Health, Safety & Environment
Remuneration: Exempt
The Senior Associate will report to the Senior Director of Environmental Programs, and ensure that RWE Clean Energy (RWECE) maintains compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, and requirements. The Senior Associate will support the development of the Company’s environmental initiatives across the full lifecycle of RWECE from development through decommissioning.
Responsibilities:
  • Waste management (i.e., RCRA).
  • Participate in meetings with state and federal resource agencies.
  • Decision making/Latitude:
  • Develop programs in a collaborative way, own and deliver individual programs, providing training, systems, and expertise as needed.
  • Water and stormwater management for construction and operations (i.e., CWA, SWPPPs, etc.),
  • Threatened and/or endangered species issues and take permits (i.e., BGEPA, ESA, MBTA, etc.),
  • This position must be able to review, analyze and solve complex issues related to environmental issues across all of RWECE.
  • Support the development and implementation of RWECE’s Environmental Management System (EMS) in compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), Environmental Assessments (EA) (i.e., NEPA, state-level environmental review regulations, etc.),
  • Interface with various departments and organizations throughout RWECE, including development, construction, and operations.
  • Provide technical expertise in any of several areas of environmental practice, including but not limited to:
  • Native plants and habitats, including biological assessments and evaluations of such,
  • Participate in industry groups focused on environmental/wildlife issues and report activities to the larger team.
  • Chemical management, including spill prevention and control (i.e., EPCRA, SPCC, etc.), and
Qualifications:
  • Experience with environmental compliance matters associated with wildlife issues as directed by USFWS and state wildlife agencies.
  • Experience in building relationships with internal and external customers/stakeholders based on a partnership style.
  • Experience with environmental compliance matters associated with the following regulatory programs: EPCRA, SPCC, RCRA, CAA, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to make presentations to senior leadership
  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing and implementing environmental programs, including environmental permitting, in the Energy Industry, with a preferred renewable energy focus.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science, biology, civil/environmental engineering, or related degree
  • Experience in Construction and or Operations, including fieldwork.
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $86,000.00 - $129,000.00 . The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
