Job Description
We Are Hiring:

We are hiring a Senior Administrator - Database! #AscensionTechnologies #LI-Remote

Manages administration and maintenance of assigned database systems, function(s), and/or resources within the realm of on-prem and cloud-based environments, in addition to providing DBA lead and managerial oversight.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage database platform reports, visualizations, and dashboards
  • Be available for on-call support, as needed
  • Manage processes for governing database access
  • Managed Services and other vendor partners management across all Ascension database platforms for both on-prem and cloud-based environments
  • Develop processes and standards for best-practice optimization of database platform configurations, performance, backup/recovery, and security
  • Manage installation and maintenance support for all in-scope database technology disciplines
  • Effectively diagnose and troubleshoot database issues in collaboration with other infrastructure teams
  • Recommend and implement emerging database technologies
  • Develop automation standards for repeated, routine database tasks
  • Maintain database platforms with proper upgrade and patching cycles

Skills:
  • Working knowledge of MSSQL AlwaysOn, Oracle RAC and Data Guard, and other ancillary high availability (HA) solutions
  • Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts and design, such as TCP protocol, DNS, etc
  • Expertise with utilizing database management tools for all supported database technology disciplines
  • Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS components of MSSQL
  • PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring best-practices
  • Working knowledge of Idera, Solarwinds, or similar database platform monitoring/alerting products

What You Will Need:
Education:
  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.


Work Experience:

  • 3 years of experience preferred.
Additional Preferences:
Education and Experience Preferences:
  • Administrative experience with multiple database disciplines, such as MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
  • Experience with working in Microsoft Azure, Google GCP, and other cloud-based disciplines
  • Experience with latest VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization technologies
  • Administrative experience with Windows and Linux/Unix server environments, as well as storage appliance technologies for conventional SAN and hyper-converged disciplines
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
  • 5 to 10 years of experience with enterprise levels of database administration, database architecture, or a related field
