Security Officer At Local Zoo

• Pay Rate: $15.50 / hour (pay rate is determined and set by current contract for the site assignment, identified during the interview process; subject to future increases)

CURRENT OPENING:

• Seasonal Summer Coverage: Sunday - Saturday: 10:30 AM - 6:30 PM starting April 29th
• Additional Summer Coverage: Monday through Friday 10am to 4:30pm Starting May 29th
• Part-Time (16-29 hours / week)
• Seasonal Summer Coverage: Wednesday - Sunday: 6:00 PM - 10 PM starting April 19th

LOCATION: Grand Rapids, MI

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: As an unarmed Security Officer at DK Security, your duties are determined by the client location. Some responsibilities may include:

• Customer Service - Always enforce rules and policies through de-escalation techniques and ensuring quality customer service in every interaction.
• Camera Monitoring - Monitor CCTV for safety and security concerns across the site.
• Access Control - Ensure only authorized individuals are given access to the site. This could be based on appointments, ID cards, etc.
• Extensive Patrolling - Walk the interior and/or exterior of the various buildings on the site, keeping an eye out for security, safety, or maintenance issues.

SUCCESS as a Security Officer at DK Security will look like:

• Following Company and Client Policies - Be able to read and interpret written post guidelines, follow procedures as outlined and ensure all tasks are completed throughout the shift.
• Reliability - Report for your shift on time, presentable, and in the prescribed uniform.
• Friendly Personality- Being able to balance our expectations of outstanding customer service while maintaining client policies and enforcing rules.
• Use of De-escalation Techniques - Being able to defuse situations through verbal judo and other communication tactics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be readily able to respond to emergency situations
• Less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years
• May NOT have any felony convictions and must be able to pass a criminal background check in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Must be able to sit, stand or walk for the duration of the shift, including walking long distances, and possibly up and down stairs
• Must have either a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• No other major violations in the last 3 years.
• Physical Requirements:
• Less than 2 at-fault accidents in the last 3 years
• Must have a valid Driver's License with a good driving record. (Required for driving sites)
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
• Must be able to successfully pass a drug test at the time of hire and randomly thereafter.
• Must be willing to become CPR/1st Aide/AED Certified
• Must present a friendly, positive, and professional image.

  • DK University - Complete basic officer training with our online training courses, learning the foundational skills needed for security.
  • On the Job Training (OJT) - Depending on the site location, you will complete anywhere from 2-40+ hours of On-the-Job training, learning the client-specific policies and procedures of the location you are assigned to.
• Virtual or On-site Interview - Interview with the recruiter or site supervisor. Learn more about our opportunities and confirm the site assignment you are interested in pursuing.
• DK University - Complete basic officer training with our online training courses, learning the foundational skills needed for security.
• Job Offer - Talk to our Recruiter about the specifics of the job offer, as well as next steps in the on-Boarding process.
• Background Check & Online On-Boarding Activities
• In-Office Orientation - Meet with our HR Team and complete your onboarding process, in-house drug testing, issuing of uniforms, and photo ID badge, meet with your Operations Manager.
• Phone Interview - Review of our basic qualifications as well as your work history and future goals.
• On the Job Training (OJT) - Depending on the site location, you will complete anywhere from 2-40+ hours of On-the-Job training, learning the client-specific policies and procedures of the location you are assigned to.
