Position Overview

Perform satellite Command and Control (C2) and management of the Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) systems for the 10th Space Operations Squadron (10 SOPS). The Satellite Operations Lead is responsible for ensuring successful completion of Telemetry, Tracking and Commanding (TT&C), terminal-based operations, anomaly resolution, and ground equipment and station support/troubleshooting. The Satellite Operations Lead ensures execution of satellite and ground station control plans and provides direct support to management and engineers tasked with preparing documentation for satellite telemetry, orbital analysis, and control of spacecraft. The Satellite Operations Lead ensures Mission Planning and Real-Time Scheduling is met, prioritized, allocated, coordinated, and deconflicted for all on-console supports. The Satellite Operations Lead creates and manages the satellite operator’s shift schedule accordingly. The Satellite Operations Lead performs the duties of a Local Element (LE) Manager in support of the command's Communication Security (COMSEC) Material System (CMS) Program. The Satellite Operations Lead develops products and deliverables to the program management team. The Satellite Operations Lead is a self-starting individual that requires minimal guidance. The SOC is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including weekends and holidays, and the Satellite Operations Lead supports rotating 8-hour or 12-hour shifts.

Required Skills/Qualifications

• Requires Legacy systems and Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) qualifications.
• Ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and implement actions.
• Requires COMSEC Local Element (LE) qualifications.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Mission Planning and Scheduling
• Satellite Operator Experience

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree or related work experience; 3-5 years’ experience performing military satellite operations.

Travel: Occasional trips between Point Mugu, CA and Schriever SFB, CO
