Position Purpose
The Manager, Sales provides leadership, direction and support to the Sales organization within their respective business unit. Responsible for the daily activity of Account Managers to achieve the business unit sales expectations, while ensuring the retention of existing customers and adding new customers. Ensures all Briggs Industrial Solutions standards are adhered to and executed consistent with company direction.
Principal Responsibilities And Duties
  • Lead bench strength planning in order to achieve and maintain sales growth requirements
  • Ensure execution of all people-related initiatives i.e., training, compensation approvals, performance management process, recognition & fostering positive morale
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Partner with cross functional partners (Human Resources, Finance, Technology, etc.) to ensure assigned locations are in alignment with the company in all process and direction
  • Monitor, manage and direct supervision of Account Managers to include responsibility for selection, hiring, development, training, performance management and new hire procedures
  • Lead the business unit objectives for sales and profit performance, to include driving top line sales, market share and bottom line profit
  • Manage and coordinate all requests received from other sales areas, branches, corporate, etc.
  • Ensure execution on monthly expectations and standards, strategies and action items, to include use of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, execution of sales opportunities and safety procedures
  • Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to sales team, while fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, high-performance and ethical behavior
  • Manage payroll, productivity and staffing in region/branch against established performance expectations and objectives
Minimum Qualifications
Basic Knowledge & Competencies:
  • Ability to assess customer patterns and adjust labor and branch focus accordingly
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
  • Thorough knowledge of all systems, procedures, techniques, equipment, operations, standards and reports that apply to the sales process
  • Strong leadership and people development skills
  • Excellent customer service, communication and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent time management skills to include prioritization of tasks, communication, execution to meet established deadlines
  • Strong financial acumen, including capital buying process, cognitive skills, problem analysis, decision making and quantitative analysis
Previous Experience/Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 3+ years’ experience leading in a multi-unit work environment preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience leading a Sales team of 4+ Account Managers preferred
  • Analytical decision making preferred
  • 7+ years' experience in roles with increasing responsibility preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Standing, walking, lifting, twisting and bending on a frequent basis
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
