Responsibilities
The RN/NP Transition To Practical Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the WellStar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the WellStar Professional Practice Model, 5-Star Nursing and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the WellStar Core Competencies.
The RN/APRN is a nationally certified licensed healthcare provider who provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with a physician according to an established APRN protocol agreement. Where appropriate and once credentialed as an APRN in a practice, the APRN emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. Certifications may include: acute care, adult, family, gerontology, psych and mental health, neonatology, pediatrics and women's health.
The RN/NP will be an active participant in the Rn to NP Transition to Practice Program (TTP). As a member of this program, the participant will adhere to program requirements and expectations as outlined by the TTP Syllabus and Professional Commitment Document.
Qualifications
Required Minimum Education:
- Graduate of an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Practitioner Program within the last 3 years* (*Acute Care NP must be within 18 months of graduation)
- Graduate of Bachelor’s of Science Registered Nurse Program
Required Minimum Certification and licensure:
- Current RN License in the State of Georgia
- APRN – Current certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
- Current APRN License in the State of Georgia
- Current BLS card from the American Heart Association on the first day of employment in position
- Qualify for and maintain privileges to practice at facilities per medical staff guidelines
Required Minimum Experience:
Experience of at minimum 6 months of experience as a bedside nurse.
