Victim Advocate I / Victim Services Specialist I
(Grant Funded Position)
Summary: During the post-sentencing phase, serves as a liaison between the State Board of Pardons and Paroles, Georgia Department of Corrections, Department of Community Supervision, and victims, their family members, and members of the community.
Core Job Responsibilities
Job Responsibility 1: Post-sentence support to victims
Description: Provides post-sentence support and information to victims while serving as a liaison between the victims, service providers, and partner agencies. Team member successfully understands and accurately complete assignments about victim registration, protest investigations, victim notifications, attempting to locate victims, and processing of release information.
Job Responsibility 2: Process incoming correspondence
Description: Will identify, log and assign all incoming victim correspondence received via U.S.P.S., online, email, and other external sources. Assesses and investigates correspondence, protests, and complaints to determine relevance to the unit’s statutory requirements.
Job Responsibility 3: Telephone Coverage
Description: Will provide, coverage, and logging of division telephone calls from the mainline or calls routed via the GA-VIP or the PAP/GDC call center. Provides victims with accurate information regarding the offender's status. Directs all incoming phone calls to designated specialists as needed. Provides crisis intervention services/communication to crime victims Documents all calls and inquiries in the case management system.
Job Responsibility 4: Board-Designated Violent Offense List Processing
Responsible for organizing and submitting the Board-Designated Violent Offense list to the Prosecuting Attorney's Council.

Technical Competencies:
- Intermediate skills using other Microsoft Office products: Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
- The ability to use a computer quickly and efficiently with multiple visual displays
- Broad understanding of victim advocacy
- Intermediate skills in Google Workplace (e.g.Docs, Slides, Sheets, Google Meet)
- Ability to use data to problem solve and to inform the design of business processes
- Ability to work with diverse communities and possess sensitivity to the needs and concerns of various cultural groups
- Ability to develop and maintain positive work relationshipsExcellent communication skills, both oral and written and organizational skills.
- Understanding of best data practices to protect the privacy and confidentiality of sensitive data
